Si, even Atlanta gets cold in the winter... Who knew?! 40° is my new 10° I was born in da U.P. hey... You'd think I could handle the cold a little better.....
We've recently been offered a crazy deal (belongs to a friend) on a 2015 Vengeance 25v toy hauler/camper. We don't need a toy hauler, but hopefully the MINI will fit... Have been in the market for an RV trailer for a couple of years now. Do any of yall RV camp? We're tired of dealing with a tent and want to camp year-round. How messy is it to drain all the wastewater and do most RV campgrounds have water hookups at the dump spots? Or do you do the tank rinse part at home? Do you treat the RV toilet like a bus toilet (no #2)?
We use to have a 27 slide out trailer when my kids were young. I cant remember how big our fresh water tank was but I would leave it empty and fill it when I got to the camp sight. That water is heavy and you can tell. You can do #1 & #2 in the toilet but we have 4 kids so thats 6 people. we would use it at night but the cam-sight toilet was used during the day. The black water and gray water is easy to dump, just do the black(toilet) water first then the Gray(sink and shower). This way you get all the crap out of the hose. Depending on the type of roof you have to have the seams resealed every 2 years I think, dont let that go or you will have big trouble.........I know very well! The part that most people don't think of is a good truck to pull it with. I started with a Dodge with a 318. The camper dealer said that was good enough, WRONG. Next I got a Suburban with a 350 that was rated to 10,000 lb it did very well. It had a 40 gallon tank. I could go 8 hours without needing gas. If you dont want to commit to a strong truck don't do it. Last thing is when you pull you suck fuel down. A diesel would be a good choice. The one thing we did like is we had our camper all set up so all we had to do was hook it up and go. We get groceries ether before we left or when we got to our destination. That reminds me. Most refrigerators are electric and use propane if there is no electric. Don't pump gas till you turn it off once you leave the pumps you can turn it back on.. So just a nice short answer.
We've had an F150 Ecoboost for a few years now and that thing has plenty of power, she's rated up to 7600 lbs. I've pulled 6500+ lbs with it no sweat up to north GA. Thanks for the gray water AFTER black water tip, I was wondering about rinsing that hose out... Now to figure out where to store that thing after dumping... When you'd dump at one of those dump spots at the campground after camping, do they normally have a fresh water hookup?
Yes most sight will have spots you can hook up to water and power. Then you don't have to put any water in your tank. I had a water hose I used only for fresh water. Some places have dumps at each sight. Also some sights offer a service where they will come to your sight and empty your tanks. The sight we used in Destin FL did that if you had a beach front sight. That was a great place. You were on the beach. Check the weight of that camper, mine was a bit over 6000lb. A toy hauler may be more, add the Mini and you will be over that 7600lb. I don't want to scare you off. If you set it all up right it will be big fun but done wrong its a pain. I have done it both ways.
Awesome, thanks for the info! Have never owned or kept up a camper so any advice is much appreciated. I'm learning as fast as these YouTube rv guys can teach me My weight cut off is 6500 and that's just a bit over what that 25v is. We don't plan on hauling any toys as we don't have any, it's just a good deal on this particular camper and they're friends of ours (buddy was just diagnosed with MS and can't drive anymore so they're going with a lighter camper and ditching the Harleys so the wife can do the towing). I'll travel dry and load up on water or hook up when at the destination IF we buy this camper.
That could take a while. 2009 JCW Clubman bought with 28K miles in May of 2018, so I’m putting on about about 7200 per year (previous owner put on about 3000 per year). 100K should pop up in another 8-9 years.
You need to get out there an motor some more. Do the dragon, MTTS, all other MINI events. Find a twisty road where nobody else in a lesser car would dare travel. That number is way too low.
Well, no motoring in either MINI for our family today. It managed to snow 10 inches overnight and hit a low of zero. So MINIs are going to hibernate, even dear wife cancelled an appointment and she is the one who takes the 2011 out in all types of weather, then makes me clean it up. Take care and brace up for what is coming your way out East. Don
We have been very lucky so far here in the Ohio valley so far this winter. If I wake up to this I'm holding you responsible Don.
