Before you put that block in, you need to pull the rest of the bits and respray the engine bay in CR. I f-ing HATE seeing everywhere that the paint has worn off in my engine bay because they couldn't be bothered to clear-coat it at the factory. I look in my engine bay and know that it's as good as I'm ever going to get it without pulling the engine... I keep thinking "maybe if I remove this bit and mask this off..." and then I realize that I'll just make it worse unless the whole engine comes out.
That will be done later, I have the paint and clear-coat already. The trick is masking areas off with aluminum foil and not tape and paper. Very easy to do.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes for my niece, she will actually get out of post isolation this week and get to see her boy, it has been a long up and down three weeks. As for our MINIs, nothing but grocery shopping and now we are doing delivery from Whole Foods and King Soopers (Kroger), Whole Foods (Prime) appears to be a better experience, free delivery and they did not ding the doorbell so I guess not tipping either. Win and Win! Since WF is a bit more in cost. Full disclosure, no TP. Don
I daresay your resonated Milltek is for a MINI and not a super-modified whatever you might call it once the new engine is put together...only a MINI in body. That poor resonated Milltek is about to get its resonator blown off.
So this is going on soon after the L19 ARP head studs go in to the block. That’s a real quality CNC flow tested Big Valve head. RMW quality, no home porting with a Dremel / Thumper style here.
The other half has lost his MINI privileges for good. He curbed THEE SHIT out of one of my wheels and took a chunk of rubber out of my fairly new tires. Mind you, I was driving the car for at least a week after he did. I was on the highway doing 80+, taking corners too fast and basically driving like I always do, like an asshole I just noticed it by chance one day when loading my bike onto the roof on the passenger side. Bent down and sho-nuff there was a chunk out of my tire. I asked, "did you hit a curb when you took my car to Atlanta?" he says,"I don't think so"..... Then I bring him out to look and he said he asked his yoga friend that was with him if she had seen anything wrong with the bumper... he thought he "just grazed the bumper" and his friend didn't see anything wrong... Ugh, f'n yoga people.. No mas. Also, got an email from my AirBNB cabin host. She said she'll let me know but they're not allowing out of towners into the area up there. #notagoodweek upside, at least I'll save some money... Oh and the tire has been replaced as of yesterday. I know it's a first-world problem, but I hate having one tire with more tread than the rest.
I got a Ford SHO to detail. At least I have something to die during “lock down”. Yes, it is a custom lowered suspension. with 370 WHP AWD.
Was just reading the Articles section on some past MINI April Fools announcements. How did I miss this one? I would have been all for it. "An upgraded dual air-horn warning system comes standard on the model"
Depending on how this one works I plan on putting it on my wife's Mini (maybe she says she doesn't want it). I will put a few miles on this one and see if its snake oil or really works. It has a couple check valves and is designed to keep suction on the dirty side at all times. the small round part on the clean side is like a catch can. I have a flight through Rickenbacker Field tonight. I wish I could sneak those tires on the flight, We use to be able to do stuff like that but they put a stop to it.
Going batty. Working long hours from home. No time to get out and drive much. In fact, it sounds like we might get locked down soon. In a moment of "what do I do now?", I found a magnet sheet and cut 3" circle and stuck this sticker that came in the mail the last time I renewed my membership. My car will wear it when they let me out and allow me to cross the border again. With it on the grill badge holder, my car should be good for an extra 10th of a second, right?
