Finally got around to taking the winter shoes off of Skooby. Oh man that last monkey who changed tires didn't know what a torque wrench was & that the torque spec wasn't 500 ft-lb +10%. Holy carp had to use my longest breaker bar plus a floor jack handle for extra grunt. Once I cool down I'm going to have a talk with the tire monkeys about proper wheel torque. I was lucky not to have had a flat, I'd never been able to break those lug bolts loose on the side of the road.
Old farts need exercise every now and then! At least this time around you could see what you were doing!
Walked the dog twice today...parks were full, so we took a nice ride thru the countryside on our way back home.
Went to Walgreens down the hill today and scored TP, the first time at any of 3 stores in my burg of 22K. I took my 2016, which I filled up around 4 weeks ago. Sigh, it has not come off the full marker yet and I have even done a lap or two around town. Sigh! Need some time in Mountains on some curves. All take care and make sure to keep a safe distance, this is not going away in May by magic. Don
COTD PREP IN FULL SWING! Took R50 from MOTD prep to regular set up before, now back to Dragon Prep with Mini Sleeping Pod re-installed (with full living arrangements), Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires, etc. Trip is set up for May 1st! Dragon Therapy greatly needed!
I’ve done a spring prep on Rufus, my 2005 JCW, over the past few months, it haven’t gotten out for a good test drive. I went for a 20 minute jaunt down the road just to make sure all is OK before I hand the car off tomorrow for 2 new tires to be mounted, a corner balance and alignment, it was SPECTACULAR.to be out in the car (72 degrees, bight sun) with the windows down! Rufus ran like a top and seemed happy to be out as well.
i have has so many effing problems with the Innovative wide band sensor and calibration it’s getting thrown in the trash one and for all. Word of advice to everyone considering a wide band DO NOT BUY INNOVATIVE! Today I ordered a new full Zeitronix wide band system. Zt-3 + ZR-1 AFR and Lambda Gauge Display Bundle In this kit the Zt-3 Wideband is bundled with the ZR-1 Gauge. The ZR-1 Gauge displays Air/Fuel ratio or Lambda values and has a peak and hold feature. High contrast LEDs are visible even in a direct sunlight. Includes the Zt-3 Wideband Air/Fuel Ratio Meter, 10ft* Sensor Harness, Signal Harness, PC Serial Cable and Installation Instructions. Data splitter included for simultaneous display and datalogging use. Available with or without LSU 4.9 wideband oxygen sensor. Made in the USA.
Geeze, Dave.O, I thought I had a good knowledge of a foreign language, but you have flummoxed me. I mean, WTF are you talking about?
Not today, but Friday last.......dropped off the MINI a week ago to have some major work done. New SC, Wilwood brakes, various gaskets, tensioner, brake flush, coolant flush, Miltech center resonator, new water pump, clutch slave, motor mounts,.....etc. Got it back Friday and boy did I miss it. Took it for a nice drive yesterday and feels like new.....
Took my un-MINI out to run some errands & then did a nice back road drive. Hit the touchless warsh so it looks spiffy once again.
She got her first bath in a couple months last night. Silver does an extraordinary job at hiding dirt Since MOTD is cancelled we'll be camping in north GA for the weekend. North GA twisties got nothing on North Carolina twisties, but at least there's twisties. Hope yall are doing good
Organizing a MINI doughnut run to Krispy Kreme doughnuts drive through. The lock down does not allow restaurants to be open, but the drive thru takeout window is. So we're going to get a bunch of MINIs together and go through the line up. Any MINI driver in the Vancouver BC Canada area interested is welcome to join us on May 9 (next Saturday). The short drive will include Krispy Kreme doughnuts in North Delta, Ladner Village, BC Ferries terminal passenger pick up, the South Fraser Perimeter Highway and River Road. Other locations TBD. Since we are social distancing, we will NOT be getting out of our cars for this event. It strictly a driving event. Speeding certificates at your own risk.
The MINI is off to the shop, so I pulled my monthly driver (what would be my 'daily driver' except for the fact that my wife and I are both under stay-home orders and work from home) into the garage. It is VERY strange to see the driveway empty! Just before the stay-home order (5-6 weeks ago), I took all 3 cars out and filled them with gas. The MINI and my Volvo/daily are still reading as Full. My wife's Audi shows 7/8 full. At this rate, we might not need gas until September... longer if I siphon from one tank to the other. Actually... I might need to put some stabilizer in the tanks!
Your fuel will be fine, it’s your battery you have to put on a tender. We all know how much MINI’s like low voltage.
That's funny, MINI's love to give you the low voltage light show. I forgot all about putting it on a battery tender. Guess I'm getting old & forgetful.
Bought a new air compressor to replace the wonky old one, & ordered a 1/2" drive electric impact. Next MINI tire rotation should be a bit easier.
