Called up a bunch of local MINI drivers and went for a short drive for ice cream.

Went for a 3 miles drive before dinner, every mile is closer to that first oil change on the new JCW Clubman, for an implulse buy this one has turned out very good. I did get the battery changed out, no hassle, not even sure if they did an internal or warranty, really do not care, tech was fast, in and out in about 50 minutes with the battery software registration they do at the dealer. Probably go to a local BMW/MINI raceshop that is local for the first oil change, we shall see, the SA at dealer said not to reset any of the intervals so we can keep the MINI on the as delivered time and mileage. 10K or 1 year, at least they fixed that BS.

Just wanted to give a shout out to three great companies:

The DriveShaft Shop has hooked up my 2005 R50 with custom 550hp race axles!

Also, Koni warrantied my 9 year old Koni Yellows! Did the prepaid ahead and received my new struts, installed and returned old one option, full refund on the new struts!

And finally, hats off to JS Performance Motoring’s owner, Jason for installing everything on my awesome little RaceR50!

A little Dragon Therapy on 8/6-10 to test out the updated mods......feel free to join me!

The odometer on my GP rolled passed 60000 miles this weekend, but I had to stop and capture the palindrome before getting there.

This weekend I pulled off almost all the star shield (clear bra) off the Exige. I still have to do the front. Now I need to get all the glue off. I have some 3M adhesive remover that works wonders but it’s not even working well.
I took the Helmet out a few times this weekend to run to to the store and when my wife and I went to dinner. Yes dinner at a restaurant, it was a nice evening we sat outside on the patio and listening to a live band.

@Dave.0 if you know of an easy way the get this glue off my car I would love to know.

Get a good pair of thin but leather gloves and a heat gun. Heat up a small area and roll the glue off with the glove on your hand. You can try your 3M or use Goof Off, WD40 but all of them are going to be slow.

I have also used very little heat with MF towel with a decent amount of lacquer thinner on it and wipe the glue and residue away. Remember wipe the glue away NOT let the towel with Lacquer Thinner sit on the paint.

Made an appointment next week for a ceramic coating. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Dave O I know the price is high, but I'm 77 and don't have any family other than a wife and you can't take it with you so what the hell.

That’s why you have to use low heat and remove the film Slowly with the glue on it . It takes a long time but it’s better then the situation you are in now.

I should have tried a blow dryer instead of the heat gun. The fiberglass does not hold the heat like I am use to.

Wow, forgot how much brake dust silver wheels show on my MINI JCW, first 200 miles and thank goodness for Sonex and Adam's Wheel Cleaner. This is going to be an every other day thing. :(

Not many miles getting on Clubby. Sigh!

Low tire light came on shortly after
heading home from work in pouring rain.
I pulled over to park under the overhang
of a bank drive thru to find a huge chunk
of metal in the tread and only 35 psi in
my right rear tire with 7/32” of tread left.
2nd unrepairable puncture in a month or so.
Too big to plug, so I put on the compact
spare and drove the rest of the way home
    on that.

Maybe it can be patched from the inside. They can use the kind that has a plug that goes in from the inside. You won't know until they dismount it & have a look.

    Not bloody likely.

After quite a bit of effort I got it out.
It left a big fat T shaped hole that is bigger
than one would feel good about patching and
    plugging.

I hate it when this happens to a relatively new
    215/45/R17 PS4S.

Wow, that truley sucks. I went to Discount today and put full replacement warranty, patching, rotation and blancing on the Bridgestone runflats Turanza t005, not even in the tire place books. So got this covered until this set wears out. I am thinking a set of 17 inch steel wheels with winter tires for the ALL4 this year and the JCW comes with summer tires as ordered to the dealer. Did not even try to negotiate with the salesguy or GSM, not going with the marked up MINI tire and wheel package either, did that in 2007 then put on JCW wheels. And had to get a few more sets of tires as the mods wore them out. :) :)

Good call on getting those replacement certificates for the new JCW tires Don. I always get those when I buy new tires. It has always paid off for me.

Now that is a sweet picture of some Dragon action. :)

Took the 2011 over to a local wash and detail place and had the flying Golden Retriever hair removed and interior cleaned of the Countryman, it will last a day, but we feel better for the cash outlay. Only $35 to extract all that hair, in and out in about 45 minutes. Came home and gave the outside a nice spiff. At 3:45, the thunderstorms arrived and both MINIs in the garage and the shelters are on the garden and roses to save them from hail too.

    Maybe time for a nap.

    Don
