Stuff like this is why I try to avoid shops and valet parking. Nothing broken or damaged that I know of so far, but I once picked up my car that had a custom stereo and the guy asked "How do you turn on the stereo? We tried to fire it up and couldn't get it to turn on." I can imagine the temptation they get to "test drive" your car when they see it. What did the shops break?
Got the part and put it in. Easy Peasy. The turbo end wasn’t just cracked, it was actually torn the whole way around about 1/4 to 1/2 inch from the end. The rubber adapter plug on the inside (normal part of the oem hose) and some silicone tape on the outside of the main plastic hose kept it sealed enough to prevent any airflow codes while I waited for the new part. Also did a quick hand polish to my 11 year old headlight lens to keep it looking more like the 1 year old one on the other side.
The LEAP rear diffuser got in a lot earlier than estimated (September 28th) so spent a few hours over the last couple of afternoons wrapping it in carbon fiber. It's not 110% perfect, but no one will notice form a galloping horse. Hopefully get to the install this weekend, see how I'm feeling. Got some cabrio front braces coming from Leeds, been waiting forever to get some lined up, but just couldn't get myself to pay the crazy costs for them here in the US. Got both for less than 150 US, shipped. Got a second hand (used for 3 months) M7 heat Shield as well since it was a great deal.
I agree, but Mini is to blame also. Why would they have the bonnet release on the right side and the steering wheel on the left.
New tires and switched rims to a set I had in storage. There are oxidized marks on the shiny metal part. Any tips on how to get rid of those? Tried steel wool but they are persistent.
Looks like you may want to add a bit of air. As far as the oxidation goes, are those clear coated? If so you won't so a thing without removing the clear coat. If that is raw aluminium I'd guess you could polish it out with metal polish. I'd stay away from steal wool.
waiting on word to head over to the "shop" to install the rear diffuser. If I don't get the text soon, I'm contemplating getting into a back seat delete after all this time. No one is ever back there...it's happened twice that someone has ever ridden in the back. There seems to be a wealth of info all over the www for DIY, so I may go that route, as any of the prefab options that still allow for access to the rear seat belt receivers don't offer any utilization of where the rear seats would go.
Aaaaaaaaand done. Took longer to correct the vinyl that had started to bubble a bit in the corners on the inside of the vents near the center fog light, but a trim and some tape and looks fine for me.
What did I do with my MINI today? I checked the air in the tires and added a little. I also added a pint of oil to top off the engine. See? I tell you guys when I do stuff with my MINI, it's just not very much!
Not doing anything with my Mini today. But on the mini related front...I have been advised by the high command that I need to keep the Helmet for those times we need an extra car. My kids keep taking my truck. I said I could use the Lotus when we need an extra car but she said no she doesn't want anything to happen to it to keep the Helmet. Is this some kind of bazar test? I am a little worried it could be a trap.
Perhaps, you spending a lot of time together in these times of Covid? Or she really love the Helmut, it is a unique ride!
It's not a trap, Lee. It's just that you have two rideable, driveable cars that need to have the carbon blown out of them.
