So I dropped off the R56 tonight to have a scope tomorrow and maybe the walnut blast and the 2 VVT solenoids changed out and we will see about the idle after all that lovelyness!
1st of 5 cold mornings in a row. Winter tires went on this am. Changed the rear bar from the middle setting to the soft setting until spring and summer tires.
Rats, my driver's side windshield chip repair job is failing and the one crack I thought was sealed seems to be spreading. It appears that the bonding agent didn't seal all of those pesky tendrils. Damn.....
I've not had good luck with that type of repair. Time to source out a good glass place in your area. When mine was replaced they used Pilkington glass & it was great. Make sure whoever you use knows how to put glass in a MINI. The upper seal needs to be replaced & so will the plastic widgets that hold the A pillar plastic pieces on. Hope your insurance is going to pick up the cost.
Thanks for the info, Chuck. As I see it, it will either go to a guy who does auto glass repair here in town or to MAG. Either way, my insurance should cover it. It's about time I got "something" out of all the auto insurance bills I've had to pay. I can live with it for awhile, unless it spreads farther. Right now, I have just too many bills to worry about and the glass repair is at the tail end of things that need to be addressed.
I thought a lot about my MINI today, does that count? I haven't seen it in almost 4 years, and some stuff that popped up last week has me thinking again... I'm waiting on a phone call, hoping for the best, and preparing mysef for years of debt. If all goes well, it will have a new home, and I can finally bring it down from Colorado and start playing with it again!
More yesterday than today, went to lunch (local Italian) with sweet wife, had a nice calzone and salad, slice a pizza and salad for my skinny wife. . I will regret that statement. Anyhow after short spirited drive brought the JCW home for a hand wash. I am using Mother's wash and shine ceramic, it is good when on brand new paint, brings it up nice and gets the dirt off safely. Bucket wash, no foam this time. And the JCW 20 Clubby showed 666 on the odometer. At this rate I will get to the track in the Spring of 2021, but I have been invited to some open lapping, resisting is hard. Enjoy the day, mask up and ignore the TV and Cable stuff today. Don
Pops and burbles are back! They went away when I started getting a MAF plausibility pending code 2B5C (P115C) and when I replaced the throttle body the codes stopped and the pops and burbles came back.
New windshield for my S today, as the chip repair failed and the old windshield started looking like a spider's web. Fortunately, my insurance paid for it all.
Tweedbean's How-To here gave me the courage to finally do what's long overdue. Gave the dremel duties to my bud to give him some confidence to do his GP next. Painful sight, the cutting. Haha. After everything was sealed, the sealant was visible thru the clear. Cheated a bit w/ VHT Nightshade to hide it. Happy w/ the result....The bud? Still in shock....will likely leave his GP alone. Thanks, sir. The dremel part...that wasn't fun, but well worth it. Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
Took our JCW Clubbie to lunch yesterday, today is cloudy, cool and waiting on an ice drizzle. Never can tell if it is fall or early winter here in Colorado. Take care, be safe and mask up. Don
