Changed to summer wheels/tires (PS4S), +1/4 turn stiffer on front Konis, and changed rear 25 hollow bar from soft to medium setting. Ready for the warmer half of the year.
Drove Skooby to the gas station for a fill up of 93. Then to the car warsh, on home to clean door jams & wheels. Shines like a Hot Chocolate Easter bunny! Lady Babs is very happy. Next job is off with the snow shoes, but I'll most likely wait another week or so.
Took the family car (the Countryman) to the tireshop to have the winter shoes swapped out for the summer shoes.
I'm waiting to get the snows off my S and then having some work done on it before making my final decision on which car to drive to the Dragon with...the R50 or the R53? Power or a nice, but nimble mosey along car?
Yesterday I tried a new product called P&S Bead Maker Double Black Spray Sealant.... Crazy name since its orange in color??? Went on nice and easy and looks great... Gone are the days of hand applying Simoniz paste wax.... Today I went in early at 5:00am to the shop and changed the oil and replaced the filter in the MINI.... Mini's running great and looking good too...

Bent a few COVID quarantine rules and organized a MINI ice cream and doughnut run. Even a MINI SE owner showed up and joined us.
In our MINI get together, one of our newer members couldn't come. He was running his MINI on a track. Turns out his dad and I were friends in university so dad showed up in his M2. I hadn't seen him in about 30 years much before his son was even born. His dad recognized my name on the event invite I had sent out to the club members.
MINI drivers are feeling pretty couped up. It was great to get out and just go for a short drive together. I might organize a big circle drive around the Vancouver area one of these days if the restrictions drag on. Will have to find some twisty roads to travel where everybody except MINIs have to slow down.
After quite the extended hiatus, I wandered back to the Forums... So much done to my Classic Mini over the past couple of years, to be sure. SO MANY things have been done to that car I can't remember and certainly don't wanna bore you with having to read a list. That said, I did open the bonnet this morning in anticipation of replacing my spin-on oil filter head. So, there's that.
I ordered parts!! Various gaskets, rivets, and a motor mount! As my restoration continues, I am now contemplating something that isn't an easy decision. As you can see from my Avatar pic, I have the "U" bonnet stripe. It has lost all of it's gloss. I actually took the pressure washer to it yesterday to clean some of the stains off of it. However, the time has come for me to decide whether to replace it or not. Either way, the bonnet (hood) could use a repaint as it has a lot of rock chips from years of runs, dragons, and spirited driving I suspect that removing the stripe now will expose quite a fade line. Repainting the bonnet would remedy that, but then should I just go with no stripe and not have to worry about the vinyl fading years from now?
Kind of a personal opinion but if’n you are going to repaint the hood then see how you like the look without the stripe. If you miss the stripe then have one put on. Either way enjoy your refreshed R53.
Got the rear caliper sensor pad replaced today.. S runs great...all set to go. Leaving Tuesday for MOTD and, hopefully some warmer and nicer weather.
