My normal 'smart' trickle charger saw the battery as not being there (it was that flat) so it wouldn't start charging. Luckily I still have my 25-30 year old Sears battery charger (aka: The big red brick) that will stupidly try to run current through a roll of aluminium foil if you connect the clamps to it. 12 hours on that and the smart-charger figured out that there was a battery attached and it's doing well. Rufus started on his own steam, so the battery isn't 100% gone! :D

Excellent! Glad you didn't have to buy a battery.

I inspected my cooling system, lines and clamps, and radiator. I've come to the decision that it is time for a new radiator. Let's hope the water pump isn't next!!!

Yes I did! I’m tired of the Helmet just laying around the driveway sunbathing and wanting to play in the hose. It’s time he earn his keep!:D

When I drove my R50 to my eye doctor today, about 12 miles from my house, I was wearing my MOTD Veteran vest and was asked what that was all about, so I told them about the Tail of the Dragon and the many times I had been there. They replied, "thank you for your service".

Not mini but today I finally finished installing a electric rear view camera. Well it’s a dash cam that has a rear camera and a forward facing camera.
If you have aver seen an Exige then you know this is what you see out the back window. F7A79A76-3CD7-4778-95FB-9A4544D04EF4.jpeg
All you have is the side mirrors. I do have the little round fish eye mirrors that really help but at night you can’t see squat.
So this is what it looks like now.

it’s much brighter in person. It has 120deg field of view. I have zero blind spots now.
It’s a touch screen so you can swipe to change views. Another nice feature is when the car is parked if something bumps the car both cameras come on and start recording. I don’t have a memory card in it yet so it can’t record. I can’t decide if I will put one in. It may come in handy to have it recording but it can be used as evidence on the wrong person.:D I got I at bestbuy fo $120.

Also if your wondering what the plug is in the first picture, it is where I installed my V1. I have a phone mount on the windshield for an old iPhone I use as the remote for the V1 via Bluetooth. Form the outside you can’t tell it’s in the car.

And perhaps you can drop the brand name for that front/rear video camera, I could see a usage for that one. :). Track incident disputes. :) :) :)

I'd love a dash cam and I'm kinda pissed at Audi. My wife's new (Well... 1.5 years, but does 2020 really count?) A6 has 8 cameras that I can think of, but has absolutely NO recording feature. I mean really? Drop a memory slot in there and have it record everything it can see! Why make me glue some gadget with wires sticking out of it onto my front and rear glass when there are already 8 cameras on the damn car?

Mine attached to the existing rear view mirror. I know what you mean about running the wires. The lotus is a big pain. the aluminum monocoque is very hard to run wires around, I had to order an extension wire for the rear camera so I could make all the turns.
All new car have a black box that records lotus of parameters in an accident. Some times the insurance company and law enforcement use them in court. I would not be surprised if those cameras do record.

Getting new rear swaybar bushings installed. Seems I have to get a new set every 5 or 6 years. When I installed the 22mm rear swaybar about 15 years ago, I was told that I would have to lube the bushings fairly often. Without grease nipples able to fit, that was going to be a difficult job. Difficult enough that it would be easier to simply replace the bushings every few years. It turns out, in my car, that's 5 or 6 years. The bushings are fairly inexpensive so a fair trade off between the cost of new bushings and noticeably improved handling.

    Well.

    I cheated on Wasabi.

I did a thing, and Wasabi will soon be back to being a weekend wheeler and fun car (not that it ever wasn't a fun car).

During COVID, with my fiance having the Subaru and me putting more and more miles on the MINI since we had been socially distancing for the past year, I decided it was time to get MYSELF a daily. Something that I can schlep and drive in crap winter weather with no issue...also a break from a clutch in DC traffic will be a nice break...so I bit the bullet.

I couldn't have picked a worse time to buy a new car with the chip shortage happening, and noooooooooooooothing was coming onto my local lots, but I found EXACTLY what I was looking for in Colorado and signed the papers today and it's getting shipped to me in NOVA all within $800 of what I was looking to spend, all in.

So here is my new daily, a 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line. That warranty is something else, and with only 200hp it will do what I need it to and still get great mpg.

New wheels and tires are ordered. Went with the Konig Ampliform in a 19x8.5 in graphite grey.

    Please meet, Tsunami

Today, I'm planning to clean up and re-seat the supercharger input tube. Now that I have it in service mode, I got a closer look and it appears that the vacuum line to the MAP sensor is not securely connected. I hope this explains the intermittent P1498. So, I'll clean everything and reinstall, making sure everything is tight and seated properly. I really hope this is it as it beats throwing expensive parts at a problem.
