Rufus passed his annual inspection / emissions with absolutely NO issues! In and out! I watched the guy for a few minutes. He struggled to pop the bonnet (couldn't find the safety latch) for 30 sec or so and when it came up, he just looked at the perfectly clean engine bay and chuckled... nothing to see there! Bonnet went right back down. They put the car up on a lift and checked the suspension, brakes and lines... did a good job for most places I've seen in the US. The NC DMV says Rufus is worth about $3,600 (tax value, as I have to pay personal property tax on cars). I'm not gonna argue with them!
Drove the MINI 20 Clubman JCW over to the Annual Automezzi Italian Car Fest. . I parked in VIP parking near the gate and took a bunch of pictures, over 150 or so Ferraris (new and old) , Maserati new and older, best in show, IMO 1964 Maserati Sebring Coupe, fully restored to excellent driver, 100% on paint, interior and mechanical. It is available for $198,000 a fair price. Owner said he did not want it restored to a nit-pic consourse, he likes to drive it. Not anything bad that I saw, he said there were one or two non-standard items on the car. I will take his word for it. I will drag up a picture if I can find it. A lovely gathering of Italian, nice bikes, nice scooters, very expensive F cars, a few Alfa Romeos (I am still a national and local car club member). Lambo's did I miss the lamborginis, yes old and new too. When I get a public google album created I will post it. Don (The clubbie looked mighty fine with all the F, L, A and others). Even the 1947 Rolls looked nice on the lawn. Owner said he bought it when he was 23, he had his lawn chairs on a persian rug 15x20, I think it was one that came with the car. The hood ornament was the Rolls Lady, kneeling so the muslims did not get offended. Don
Automezzi Italian Car fest Golden Colorado, Simple album, nothing fancy for pictures, basics, lots of F, A, M, and a few outliers. G Drive Album. Let me know if I need to update folder link permission more? Thanks.. Don Altnernate link: to Automezzi Suiter
Thanks for sharing your nice pictures Don. Lots of sweet cars on display. I'm a sucker for the vintage iron.
Did tell you all I retired last week. Spent the week dismantling all that computing gear and sending it back to my employer in Dallas. Then organized a sunset drive along the coast in the Vancouver BC area. That was fun.
Nice turnout for the sunset drive. I’m sure that you will enjoy your retirement more than you ever imagined.
I needed to move the Helmet so I thought I would take him for a drive. Battery was dead, that happens when they sit with no battery tender. Put the charger on it and got it cranked. I drove it for about 5 minuets and stopped for gas. Yes I was dumb enough to turn the motor off, no it did not crank. A nice guy saw my pushing it way from the pumps an gave me a jump. Drove home put it back on the charger for about 5 hours. It cranks fine. Tomorrow I will drive it to church then lunch. does anyone know anywhere I could get a HK amp fixed? I am on my second one. If I leave the car out side in the heat it kills the amp. HK is crap!
Yes. I would use a garage if I had one. Unfortunately, I don’t and there’s no room to build one on my property.
It never goes off around here, but it does give me some security when I venture into Maryland to visit my father (hasn’t gone off there either, yet). I like the feature of the radar detector that spots and silences false alarms from building alarm systems, etc., after you’ve passed the same one 2 or 3 times.
Retirement is great, but that means all lot of time to think of things to do. For a while it was great I got quite a bite done, but as you get older it seems some of the tasks seem a bite much. I've been retired since 2009 and I guess I'm getting lazy. Taking care of the lawn is pain. The only thing that I still get into is golf (sometime 1 or 2 times a mo.) and tinkering with Checkers.
