Not my MINI, but my 'daily driver' a Volvo XC60. It was time for maintenance work on the old daily driver. A few weeks back I did an oil/filter change. Car ran fine. I got a full tank of gas. Car ran fine. I swapped the plugs, air filter and interior air filter. When I started the engine, I had a CEL and a random misfire with codes on cyl 1 and 2. Engine runs rough. Dash has a warning about downshifting (but I never left the driveway) SHIT! When I was swapping the plugs, I found 2 of the coil packs (individual packs like the gen 2-3 MINIs) that looked dodgy (bad seals) and some of the rubber was crumbly in places, so I bought a new set and replaced them. No dice... still rough. I switched back to the original plugs... no dice. Fuck I hate it when I CAUSE a problem. I had to give up and call in the experts. I dropped the car off at my local garage. In the 1/2 mile there, the car never left 1st or 2nd gear (automatic transmission). --------------- Update: Mechanic found a corroded lead/wiring bundle into a coil-pack. Apparently my handling caused the final failure and it was leaking electrons. Sigh.
It’s always frustrating when you try to do maintenance/ repair work and create a problem, but the good news is the vehicle is repaired.
Thank you Lee! The GTI site I belong to also gets a lot of spammers. Don't click any of the links they post. I can only imagine what would happen.
Weather has been pretty nice. Gave GIR a bath vacuumed the interior and drove him to work. Back has been feeling pretty good so he is getting more road time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Supposed to rain a bunch here tomorrow & Monday. I'll be parking Skooby the clubster outside for a mother nature wash.
I’m covering the helmet before it rains this time. On another note thanks @Crashton and others for the spam reports. The one I got rid of last week really did a number on the sight. For some reason the function that lets me delete him and all his spam at one time did not work. Keep up the good work, if find it send a report and I will take care of it.
I ordered a couple of ceramic over coat for my car today. I had it ceramic coated last year. I just can't seem to ever get it to shine enough.
I found some picture of the wife's old car and though you mite like to see it. It's a 1966 Morris Unfortunately she can't drive a standard shift anymore so we sold it.
Thanks. The wife really liked it, but at the time she had 2 SLK's and the mini and couldn't drive it anymore so it needed to go.
