Once it is applied the car cant get wet for a week depending in the coating you use. I think now some have shorter times.
I have a carport but living near the coast we get a lot of driving rain. Thinking about doing it in sections to help keep down possible “contamination” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Everything I have been reading and seeing on video says the same thing. Seems like an impossible task without a garage. Just might have to keep it ol' skool. I did learn a few things to make the process a little easier though.
I think if you plan it out it will be fine. I washed then clayed let it dry over night, then buffed (with Sonax) then washed with dawn. Let dry over night. Then went over the car with a stripper (get your mind out of the gutter) then applied the coating. I called esoteric and they said not to worry about a very small amount of dust. Any dust that settles on the car over night will be removed when you wipe it down with the stripper (there you go agin, stop it). I thought it would be like applying clear coat, it’s not you wipe it on and wipe it off. The key is being even and not missing any spots.
So today took the 2011 CM to the carwash, cleaned up very nice and I made room in the garage to keep it clean. The AUDI takes up a larger space than my JCW Clubby, alas I look at MINIs on Bat, not sure what is next but we shall see if it is another MINI in our future, three cars one in the street I guess.
Just got back from MINI United Canada in Kelowna BC. About 300 cars attended, I think. Pictures will be posted soon. Following is a video of me catching up to one of the groups as we drove up the Coquihalla Highway. I was the tail car, the car at the end that made sure nobody got lost. I was driving fairly slow because there were two cars behind me that had previously gotten lost.
Going to take Checkers back to Ceramic Garage for the annual check up. They wash it and check the coating for any problems.
Hmm.. This doesn't look right. It's a Borla and supposed to have a warranty.. Waiting to see if they will cover it.
I do still have the paperwork (bought from Way Motor Works). Borla is asking me to go somewhere and get it welded back and they would reimburse.. My regular mechanic doesnt think it would work based on the picture, but I think I'll need to have him see it in person to tell.

Agree, that seems a little lame on Borla's part. Not a welder by any stretch of the imagination but looking at the picture, is there enough good material to weld? Its looking a little thin.
Got my car back from my detailer today. It came out in creditable. It looks to good to drive. I would hate to get it dirty. If I get a chance I'll take some pictures.
