The rear belt line trim (Hatch & side rear windows) just pops off if you pull on it from one of the ends. The door trim has no clips at all you just need to pull very hard and it will just come right off. The front belt line (windshield one) is also held on by clips and you can just pop it off after you take out one screw at each end behind the door weather stripping at each end. The front trim is also a two piece unit and separates in the middle.

For the side scuttles all you need to do is pry with a plastic tool very gently at the front edge just until you can grab the scuttle and pull it by hand.

Do not pry to hard or you will dent you car. :mad2:

You just need to pry the scuttle up so you can pull on it with your hand. It will pop out from a push clip and then you slide it to the front to release it from the back.
Then you can just twist the bulb to remove it from the lens.
At this point I would not remove the lens from the scuttle because the white tabs break easily. I just tape over the lens and S and trim it with an X-ACTO knife or razor blade.

After you get everything off the car you can spray plasti-dip all the whole time piece at once on a piece of cardboard. I do not tape off anything on the trim because you are just spraying rubber on rubber. After everything is prepped and wiped down with acetone I spray 3 or 4 thin coats of warm Plasti-Dip and let them sit overnight to dry completely.

After everything is dry just put everything back on the same way you took it off. *** You can also test putting them back on right after you take them off before you paint them just so you know how they go back on.

The Joey Mod does not look good on every color MINI. On some darker colored car other than black it tends to make the front of the car less defined.

    Just saying......

I've seen plenty and they look good. You should go for it, you can always peel it off if you don't like it.

Yup but you also left the chrome accents so it has a flow to it. Everything blacked out would have been a little too much.

There is just enough chrome for it to pop and really stand out.

Wow. Seems like a lof effort since I used pinstripe tape. I plastic dipped the chrome hinges and boot handle. Tomorrow is the headlight rings and maybe chrome interior if I get ambitious.

Mirror caps red, headight rings, grille, wheels, gas cap, side scuttles and boot hatch handle black. The paint has held up very well over the last three years with very little touchup.

I have sprayed my beltline, headlight rings, and the black trim around the aero front bumper. Love how easy it is to redo/repair.

What is the exact type of spray are we talking about? Are you using this over the chrome?
    Thanks

This is what I use. Just be sure your surface is clean. When used properly it is very forgiving. There are people spraying entire cars with plasti dip. However to do this it is probably best to not use the aerosol cans. More information can be found here: https://www.dipyourcar.com/PlastiDip/

I was thinking about doing the belt line too, maybe I'll just do a tape for that. What kind of tape is this?

Don't waste your time with the tape. It will not last very long before starting to peel, I know. Went from tape to Plastidip and it is much better.

I have Plasti-dipped (sprayed) the below parts on my 05 R53.
    Gas cap
Outside door handles (I used the Outmotoring Union Jack door handle covers) I prepped them, sprayed, then installed them.
I also did my side scuttles.

I plan of doing my belt-line trim before the Dragon because the 3M tape job is pulling back on the ends. Oh and I did not stretch the tape at all the glue just comes loose over time.

The key to spraying anything with Plasti-dip is make sure the can is warm. The warmer the can is the better it will flow and not be blotchy. I warm the cans in the sun for a few hours before I use them. Also apply many thin light coats and it will turn out perfect.

I have also done parts on other cars including my buddies Audi SQ5, roof rails, all the chrome on the front.

No dip on my car. The chrome removal is all paint and the accents are done with vinyl and/or 3M tape.

I dipped my tow hook red. It lives in the tool roll not on my car.

I also have some pairs of pliers dipped.

I would plasti dip your hood scoop, If I had a S that would of been the first thing I would have dipped, then the head light trim and grille:biggrin5:

If you are feeling bold, joey modding those headlights would like sick, love the blue
