I'm a pilot for an over night company. When it absolutely positively has to be there it may be on my plane. But my most important job is as a father to 4 great kids and husband to a wonderful wife.

WOW, there is an interesting group of people here. Me, I'm a Goldsmith. I design and produce items of personal adornment, i.e. jewelry and stuff like that. I operated a one man studio at the same location for 28 years. I closed my studio 3 years ago, but still have a studio at home. I have been on vacation for the last 35 years --or it has felt like that :).

Before that, I practiced law for 5 years before I realised it wasn't for me. To thy own self be true...

From Ft Lauderdale to Minnesota.... Do you realize how F&@kin cold it gets there? Your body will crack from the difference in temperature... I used to do business in International Falls.... They have the record at -46F.... My hand stuck to the car door handle and I thought it removed a layer of skin.... All the cars have plugin engine block heaters... It's crazy cold there...

This is what the women look like there...

Blind date bar hookups can sometimes be a real shocker... Just sayin...

I am a Marine Engineer. I operate, repair and maintain merchant ship's physical plants and their auxiliary equipment. I am licensed for Diesel, Steam and Gas Turbine plants. I restore old British cars as a hobby.

I was just thinking, Motor ships, Steam ships, Gas Turbine ships and old British cars all smell different.

I retired in 2008 as a Battalion Chief from California's largest fire service organization, CAL FIRE, after serving for 33 years. I taught in the Fire Technology program at our local Community College for 13 years and have mentored many young men and women seeking a fire service career.

I still work for the Department on a part time basis, am an active member of our Department's Historical Society, enjoy my family, travel some, landscape, cook and drink a bit of beer and wine and, dabble with these Minis... both off and on the track.

    It's nice ta meet y'all.

Retired from the Army and Civil Service. I currently do some contract work for NSA and DIA, but lately that has been few and far between, which is fine with me. More time to get the MINI dirty and fall off our horses. :biggrin5:

I doubt it is a surprise to anyone I own and operate Motoring Magic, a MINI specialty shop in Thousand Oaks, SoCal. Started working at a Chevy dealer in 1971 at age 17, moved to Porsce-Audi in 1975 and never looked back. Along the way I spent 2 years at a Harley Dealer for fun, owned an insurance adjusting deal for 10 years and an Airbag Service franchise for 12 years before Motoring Magic. The Airbag Service gig led me to partner in a collision shop (the most money I ever made AND the WORST business I was ever involved in-money is NOT everything) which brought me my 05 MCS and the rest is now history. I never wake up and don’t want to go to work!

Even more original than might think. My first job out of school was at IBM Research, and I was there for years.

I am a flake! I have done all kinds of things. I worked for a construction company out of school because of summer jobs. Sold tires, and that got me in the racing business. I was the Goodyear racing tire dealer around Washington DC, and was involved with a race preparation business. Mostly we did Formula Fords. I was in the machine shop business, and that lead to working for an industrial engine manufacturer. Got tired of the airplane on my back and got in the HVAC business. Today I am partly retired and do HVAC engineering work for a hand full of clients.
