I just re read this thread and see that you've got something in common with a great friend of mine. You made the cables and he made the wheels for those famous Cable Cars!

My first real job out of college was working in marketing communications for EDS, back when Ross Perot owned it, and EDS had a whole bunch of your IBM mainframes. We probably had a closet full of the same suits. :D

Now, I am a photographer and art director. I used to work for a couple car magazines. I still do a lot of car photography for classic auction companies.

Cool! I was stationed there from '79-'84. Loved it there. Best all around climate of anywhere I have ever lived. (and that's a lotta places) :biggrin5:
I would love to visit there again, but CA has changed too much since I left.

Originally wanted to wrench on cars since I've done it all my life, but that work doesn't pay as well :)

No, I'm retired for several years and teach college auto courses part time, it gives me access to all the college benefits like the shop and health facilities for free, plus I can take classes myself for free if I want to. It's one way to stay involved in the community and not just hole up in the house on the computer all day.

But it does have it's challenges, and not all of them come from the students. If you've ever worked for a huge corporation, a big school is no different.

Don't know that I'll ever retire. I wouldn't know what to do with all the extra time. Maybe I'll just get to the point where I can pick and choose my customers.

Good God I guess I'm the only broke person in the restaurant business?
Currently I'm in the Sushi restaurant business. But it pays like ****. So my friend in Minnesota is going to get me a job with his company that pays a lot better than my job and has benefits as well. It'd be great to also get a part time/intern at a car shop.

Let's see... to pay the bills, I'm a DBA for a direct marketing company, targeting the college market.

On the side, I'm an actor, stage combatant, and musician.
