I though it would be fun to talk about idiosyncrasies of your MINI(s). This is not the place to rant about MINIs as a dissatisfied customer :arf: The rule is simple, you can talk about anything that drives you crazy about your MINI but you've got to love it unconditionaly despite of it :biggrin5: So I'll start :cornet: As I do regularly I gave the MINI a full bath and detailing today. The first time I got started drying the MINI I though, hmm it's going pretty fast . . . but there comes part areas that aren't very tight together (hood scoop, chrome rim around front bumper, rear lights, etc...) where the water sits there due to capillary action and every time I get the towel over it it keeps leaking out Haaaaa :mad2: . . . I found a trick though. I bought those really nice waffle towel (best thing ever to dry your car). I leave the towel edge in the groove the best I can and let the water sips in. Still too much work  . . .
When I approach those speed radar signs.... You know.... The ones towns have sprinkled around the area.... Their speed doesn't match my MINI's speedometer... Grrrrrrr
I did not like you had to get Run Flats with no real tire options. I burnt off the RunRocks and have never put them back on again. Also without run rocks on the car less thing rattled and the ride was much smoother.
This! So annoying! I generally feel like washing my MINI is a quick process...until I have to deal with water seepage.
The only thing that annoys me about my MINI is the blower for cabin air is too loud. (it's an '02, maybe later models have quieter blower fans)
I hate when I test drive a car and think "wow I really like it maybe I'll buy it". Then I get in my MINI and realize I have the best car already!
When rain gathers at the top front corner of my convertible top and drips in like crazy if I put my window down for anything.
When I park my MINI in the far corner of an empty parking lot to go shopping and return to find a minivan parked right next to me in an empty parking lot....
So true... and always below the radar speed when you think you were maximizing the speed limit since if it wasn't there you know you'd be driving faster! I don't need you to think for me BMW . . . . . .
Nothing about my MINI drives me nuts, the Chili Red R50 puts a smile on my face just looking at it A co-worker drives a later model VW Jetta (as I used to), and he can't understand why I now find them as boring as hell. Generic, cookie cutter design:sleep:
Road noise. Squeaks. I'm putting sound damping everywhere I can and it has helped. Dealer lock in on things like Key fob remote programming. The poor design of the Midlands transmission and the door actuators.
The fact that I am spending all my spare money (and sometimes Not spare) on it instead of getting some much needed work done on my Vette.
I'm spending my MINI money on my roadster, but I'll be glad I did when I can doe some top down twisty road driving. My MINI will be showered with affection & Griots products when the stable mate is done. I miss detailing the MINI.
+1 on this! Happens to me all the time, usually a P.O.S. minivan or pickup. Herself says it's because the MINI looks so good, they just want to be near it. I say their just a$$..., well, you know.
When it rains hard, sometimes the rain will go into my hoodscoop, and turn into steam. It still scares me when it happens.
HA! The dragons breath.....get it every time after a good wash. Love the looks I get from the cars waiting at the stop light with me. What do I hate........I hate that it gets dirty so fast
On our R60 JCW: 1.it takes a pointed tool and two thumbs to remove the headrests. Fortunately I rarely have to do it, but who thought that head rests need 12 safety fasteners to stay on, when the R56's don't have them? I like the quirkiness of Minis as much as anyone, but this is bordering on Rube Goldberg design methodology. 2.the lack of pop and overrun sounds with the JCW exhaust in sport mode because Mini tuned it out of the US JCW's. Probably because people who buy them simply as grocery getters would all take their CM's into service due to "backfiring" exhaust :incazzato: On our R56 JCW: Absolutely nothing. at 5k miles I have found nothing that annoys me whatsoever......
