That's not good :frown2: That is the dreaded death rattle. Your chain tensioner is most likely in pieces. Did you buy new? There is a recall for that. Need to call the dealer near you soon! Also, you posted in the wrong forum, you need to post in the 2nd gen thread. Hope it works out for you![]()

I was asking if you bought it new. Yes the timing chain tensioner. It's an expensive repair, that's why you need to check with the dealer to see if it's been replaced under warranty. Any dealer should know. We had an 09 MCS, it was replaced under warranty. Almost positive they extended that warranty, call them.

I didn't buy from dealer, but from private person (craiglist). I just checked the whole history of the car. I saw engine complaints but no timing chain. I summarized it here. Will appreciate if you could take a look https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_j2rCBlhOaNcnltVzZ3MU5NcFU/edit?usp=sharing

Check with the dealer anyway. Manufacturer warranties apply to the car, not the owner. You do not have to be the original owner.

Check for recalls with the dealership.

I called MINI today and they are not working today. My question is general: if it was replaced so for how long I have the warranty?
I noticed today the oil pressure indicator was on. I checked the oil and there is oil. Have any ideas? -

STOP DRIVING IT!!!
Get in touch with a dealer and see if the tensioner was replaced, if not it should still be under warranty. -
