If you're like me you are slightly sick, pun intended, of listing to the talking heads telling us we are all going to die. I am also board! So what are you doing to keep yourself busy? Here is some things on my list. Today at 2:30 eat IMSA race.It will be on youtube. Here is a preview. Maybe watch some WRC stuff. The subscription is well worth the money. If you subscribe to F1 they have some vintage stuff to watch. Work on the Helmet Photo edit and listen to old music, its way better then the new crap! I am old. Figure out the wiring on my old Indian. Take the Indian out for a ride. This is the best therapy on earth. "Its about freedom man" Most importantly Live Life!
Just caught up on all the Project Binky episodes I've missed. I'll watch the IMSA stuff later. I'm all caught up on WRC. The eye sturgeon said no heavy work for 2 weeks. I'm going to milk that for all it's worth.
Working hard on getting caught up on my engineering jobs. I have taken a temporary leave from Summit Racing Retail position. Datsun 240Z race car engine going together nicely. Sons are home from all their colleges doing their Spring semesters online. My wife is also working remotely from home.
My company sent us an email with travel papers to print, If you are in a state that is in lockdown and get pulled over this is your papers. "Letters of transit" I feel like its WWII and I am in Casablanca. It basically says we are an essential company and are allowed to travel to work. I have heard TN will be locked down on Monday. No getting out of work for me!
Gee, a TN lockdown will probably mean that Colin will have to go to Dave.O's and buzz down to the Dragon that way...........
We're under lockdown starting tonight at midnight - I wonder just how effective it will be? How will they enforce it? Roadblocks to check your papers like MCS02 says, call out the guard? And what about just jumping on the bike like MCS02 says? Can you still do that? Or take the classic out for a quick blast to clear the cobwebs in both the car and your head? Brave new world indeed. I was at the grocery store today for bread, milk and TP - you know, the essentials - and they were busy - not slammed, but busy. Everything but TP was on the shelves or being restocked.
I knew they would, especially when the Governor of NC issued that ordinance barring groups of more than 100 a coupla weeks ago. True to form, those having made reservations at Fontana will only get gift cards now. I was able to get a refund or to have my deposit and reservation extended to next year's MOTD. I took the latter, but now I juuuust have to survive this current crisis.
Looks like I need to reinstall the “Mini Sleeping Pod”! I am still holding off cancelling Fontana........hoping I can get caught up with engineering work. Summit Racing Equipment is still open for online orders and now have curbside pick up. Took the volunteer temporary time off to allow others who need that paycheck to work. And if NC wasn’t in lock down and closed the Dragon, you all know where I would be!
MiniDave, Can you see me talking with the police officer, “but I thought you closed the Dragon just so I could get some safe solo runs in?”
Remember the rock slide year? When the TN end of the Dragon was closed? That made for some epic runs! The Dragon was soooo empty! (Epic runs at the posted speed limit of course!)
It will be reopened by then. I split our cabin with two friends, we each pay for two nights. Now if you follow Fontana on Facebook you would have seen the no limit half price gift card sale earlier this year. Our whole group bought $500.00 + gift cards for $250.00. No restrictions and can be used for MOTD lodging. Now the whole week only cost us only about $200.00 each, for entire week Sunday to early Sunday morning. We bring our own meals, beer and everything else we could need and go out on fun drives for local BBQ lunches. The rockslide year was awesome as was the Tornado year. We even stayed the entire week when the power went out. We cooked meals and made coffee in our driveway fire pit. Good times.
Shelby county witch includes Memphis has a stay at home order. But you can go to the store, post office and go out for exercise. It started at 6 this evening. so I don't know how they are going to enforce it. It was about 6 when I took my old Indian out for a test run. It has not been charging correctly sense I got it running. Turns out the powder coating on the frame was keeping the generator from grounding properly. It was good on a short ride. tomorrow when I get home from work I plan a nice long ride. If I get pulled over I will tell them its exercise.
