My thoughts are:
If you have a warm toasty garage - DETAIL
If not - feed your OCD some beer and stay inside where it's warm until Spring
But that's just me!

Depends on how the bits are? Is this micro?
These are bits of asphalt on this car. WD40, Cosmonot, Pre-Wow, Clay would all be things to try. If you can tolerate the cold, then go for it, lol.

That and even smaller. Is it ok to use WD40 and just wipe it off after? It's not taking the paint protection with it? I don't really want to be re-applying Epic now if I can help it.

It should be ok...if you're really worried, do what I do...spray on and wipe off some Hydro after you wipe the tar off and then forget about it. :cornut:

Thanks Richard. I've also got that bottle of Cosmonot that will last me lifetime so I could use that too if it's equally paint-safe.

If you're ever in doubt, just flood the area with a quick detailer to remove all traces and residue of the solvent..i.e. CosmoNot, IPA (alcohol), WD-40, then protect with a shot of Hydro and all should be well.

You can also use Banana Gloss to spot wax in temps down to freezing.

Move south then worry about it.

John & MiniMark you guys may know about MINI's and detailing, but you have a lousy sense of direction
Lotsie, thanks for setting the record straight and for the BG tip -

So I'm taking Rae's advice sort of. I decided not to let my inner OCD get the better of me. Gorgeous sunny day today. Went for a 2 hour hike with my sweety in the snow and sunc and then a 3 hour road bike ride with my good friend Al. I could've stuck around and gotten every Spike off, but in the end I'm glad I didn't. Rain is forcast for much of the coming week.
I did do a Hydro wipe as well as Rain-X'd the front and rear windows, so it wasn't entirely hands off -
just use some goo gone and forget about it, nothing worth over thinking, imo.

North of the Mason-Dixon is a Yankee... When they come south of the MD, then they are damned yankees!

Rixter,
SizeMINIClub is sponsored by Richmond AutoSpa. They can do a full detail at a very reasonable price. Just mention the club and they will give you discount.
Not sure if the deal is still on, but they had offered club members full handwashes in the winter for $15. each time. Sure beats turning on the hoses and freezing your hands washing your own car.
BTW...we're getting record cold temps this weekend and snow by Saturday, so I might consider holding off washing my car until next week.
