The first ever Bullfrog Run held by the Tar Heel MINIs in April 2008. Had my MINI for about 2 months at the time. Didn't know anyone and had never been to a car club event before. Lots of great times and friends made since then.
June 2003, MINI of Cincinnati had a showing of The Italian Job the day before it came out in all cinemas. There were more than 100 MINIs there.
Yeah, Tabs was 3 months old then and she will be 5 years old next month. So, almost 5 years... Life has only gotten better and better since acquiring a MINI and going to events.
Mine was with the Tar Heel MINI Motoring Club at their 2010 (annual) October MINIs Slay the Sleeping Dragon (MSSD) event we were invited to come down and join. It was likewise our first experience on The Dragon. We were immediately hooked and absolutely loved it! The THMMC folks are all incredibly welcoming and so helpful - it was the best introduction to the MINI community you could hope for. The event is very well organized and there's several different run options each day to suit everyone from laid back motorists or novices to spirited tarmac tamers. If anyone ever has the opportunity to attend a THMMC event, or it happens to pass through your neck of the woods, don't think, just go!! Check out their events at http://www.tarheelminis.org. Because of the Tar Heels, we also hooked up with Hampton Roads Club MINI and Central Maryland MINI Motorists clubs. We've never looked back!
Mini Takes the States 2006. Didn't do the whole run but, I did the last leg from NJ to CT. I have a refreshed 05 R53 and thought at the time I had the best Mini ever. Then I ran across all those brand new GP's sitting in the circle in front of the hotel and was totally blown away. You rarely see them anymore just driving down the road. The last leg of the 1st MTTS, I was driving in a pack of about 15 of them. What a great experiance! I still have my antenna flag hanging on the wall in my garage. I wonder how many of those GP's are still owned by their original owners?
I think I may have attended a small event before but the first one I remember attending was the Grand opening of the new Detroit Tuned shop/Michigan MINI Motoring Club Christmas party in January 2009. I had just bought my 05 JCW a few month prior. I also think that was the night I decided I was going to attend MOTD 7. I was aware that the Dragon existed but didn't know of the event at that point. As much as I enjoy my MINI, it's really the people I have met and the adventures I have had because of it that that I really love.
Mine was the PhillyMINI Krazy Kat rally in my son-in-law's justa. Now I have my MCS and still have my son-in-law too. But he is MINI-less. Boo!
Ours was the Pines Rallye held by NEMINI's Jersey/Philly group in 06. Having only been on events with the Triumph clubs when they said bring radio we had our CB, lol welcome to the 21st century and those fancy FRS radios!!
My first event was North of the Border in the summer of 2012 with C3M. A long, twisty run from the Baltimore area to Lititz, PA and back. Perfect for a first run!
Our first MINI was an '06 BRG Just-a and the first event was the Dragon in '07 what a way to break in a new MINI. Now 6 MINI's later and going on 7 Dragons.
One of our MMMC members had an open house at the customizing shop that he opened (since gone) in the Spring of 2005. I finally got to meet many of the MMMC members I had be corresponding with on the forum.
