I call BS, you are so old when you got your license they did not have internal combustion engines yet. It ok you can tell us your first ride was a dinosaur, we already know.:lol::lol::devil:
A Datsun 2dr 510 back in the early, early 70's. And still have a few of them now. Having race 2 difference one's in the past.
1955 Chevy Bel Air. Bought used in 1977. Didn't run but I had big dreams. Sold shortly afterwards when I went in the Air Force. Looking back I wish I would have found a way to store it. (Stupid hindsight) Zukoda
In 1963, I became the proud owner of a 1949 Chevy Styleline Deluxe. First mods were skinny white walls, moon disc, glass pack, and a Spark-O-Matic floor shifter. This black beauty had oxidized paint so my college roommate tagged her the "blue seducer." Total investment about $250 bucks. The Spark-O-Matic shifter snapped during a street race and was replaced with a more expensive and reliable Hurst Unit ordered from Chattanooga's Honest Charley Speedshop.
In 1971, I began restoring a 1938 Ford Pickup - Flathead 85 V8. What a great little truck it was, and an equally great project for a 15 year old and his Dad...
:cornut: In 1968 I(my Dad was long dead so during my Junior and Senior yrs HS I worked 40hrs/wk nights and weekends in an auto parts store and supported myself helping out my mother)purchased 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 4dr(rats, 2drs were better) with a 265cu in V8. I put a 450 double pump Holley carberator, Edelbrock manifold, Mallory dual point distributor,Borg Warner T10 4spd transmission with Hurst shifter, and dual exhaust on her. She was a honey. But then in 1969 I was bitten by the Sports Car bug and traded her for a 1967 Datsun SPL311 1600 2 seat roadster that could blow all of the MGB's off the road. Great Fun! Could it really be that almost 50yrs has passed since then?:eek6: Jason

1974 Opel Manta - It's been years and years since I've seen one of them in person. It had a 1900 CC engine but was dead simple to work on. I learned a lot about fixing things right vs. just fixing them on this car. Unfortunately, my wife sold it to my sister when I was away at boot camp. My sister's idiot husband wrecked it then disassembled the transmission all over their back yard. By the time I got back from boot, Little Red was no more. Very fond memories are all I have left of her (Little Red, not my sister.)
1984 Dodge Colt GTS Turbo in gunmetal grey, an old school "pocket rocket". Bought her at an auto auction. I picked up a Chilton's guide, some Craftsmen tools and a two-ton jacket. I learned a lot about that car as I was underneath her every other day.
1972 Datsun pick up mine was white with a blue hood Traded landscaping labor for it....worked my butt off digging trenchs and hauling out rocks
In 1981 bought a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 for $1400 351 Windsor, auto, 9'' rear-end geared 3:00 ( later geared 3:91 )
On my 16th birthday I got my Mom's hand me down 1967 Mustang coupe. Clearwater aqua with aqua interior. 289 V8 and 3 (yes 3) on the floor. No power steering or brakes. Only options were the V8 and an AM radio. Started modding right away. Added a Tach on the column, replaced the curb dented hubcaps with Baby Moons (anybody remember them?) and a Barefoot gas pedal and dimmer switch from JC Whitney. What a babe magnet! Of course I wrecked it. (16 year olds are idiots!)
