Ofioliti is Italian for ophiolite, which is a type of rock suite that I study (I am a geologist). I am off to the Tien Shan mountains in northwest China this summer to study some ophiolites there. :D

Mine is almost as simple. I've worked for Maaco since 1981, started out as a detailer and worked my way all the way down to owner! Bought the place in 1992 and have been the number one Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting center in VA for over 12 years. So it's Maaco for the job and Dale for the name.

My dad was ( retired, not gone) a geologist - that sounds SO familiar. My niece was working on her doctorate in geology in St. Louis until a couple of years ago.

Mine is short for iNFERNO, which is a gaming tag.

Back when our team was #2 in the world in Rogue Spear laddering on PC, I wanted the most generic thing I could find. Inferno was it. :D

Lazy bastages I play with thought that was just too long so shortened it to Fern, which has since went back to ferno, mostly.

Or you can call me J. :D

Ha ha, it is a bit cryptic for the non-geologist.

Nice to hear your story, Tim!

So, did you grow up with a lot of rocks strewn about the house and garage?
Was your niece at Wash U? :smile5::smile5:

    Pretty straightforward.
I have a Mini or two.
I'm old enough to have watched the original speedracer series.
    I race a Mini.

I originally wanted to have a name that reflected a Transformer Character...It kinda morphed into a tongue-in-cheek kinda thing as you really can't get a MINI to kick out Sideways. I have only been able to loop her around on ice with the DSC off...and even then I was kinda goin a little fast for the conditions. The E-Brake helps when the DSC is turned ON...
Anyways, it sounded good, and I went with it...Turns out, there is an actual Transformer in the new Movie named Sideways (the silver AUDI R8) so I guess I picked a good name...problem is he is a Decepticon...and I've got Autobot stickers on my MINI...but there is also a story line of a Motorcycle who's name was Sideways who kinda played both sides...

But I dig the name and I'm stickin with it regardless...

Well it all started at work many years ago. Every Friday afternoon customers would come by to pickup their stuff for the weekend. Well a co-worker started calling me FranticFreddy :crazy:because I would get all frantic, running around trying to getting all the work done in about an hour that was suppose to be done during the week.

Kind of an outgrowth of my constant procrastination which continues to this day. (Some habits never die.:prrr:)

I got mine from growing up hearing of my family and where we hailed from. As my grandfather constantly reminded me, " We are Highlanders - by God!" Hence the name. My family dates back to the early 12th century, that's has been documented anyway!

I started trying to get vanity plate and everything I wanted was taken. I finally went with BLUCOOPR and started on line, just used the same. The car itself is named Norma Jean after famous movie star and also wifes name. Just like the MINI they both have big headlights, enough said!
