Mine is pretty straightforward. While searching for a personalized license plate I found I couldn't get 'CLUBMAN,' but since CLUB is 4 characters and MAN is 3, MAN could fit within CLUB, and the rest is history.
Cubby gets my approval, he was a Mouskeeteer, can't go wrong there! Speaking of that book, have you checked out the prices on Amazon? I nearly threw my book away last week while cleaning (Original cost of $4.95)? Used, in not too good of condition starts at $35 and new starts at $230! Holy Cow! Needless to say, I gently slipped my "in very good to excellent condition book" back on the shelf. Obviously it is no longer in print. Why did I look up the price you ask, well a new updated version, sort of "where are these prep's now" was just published and I was curious if they still sold the old version. Think of the mods you could do if you sold your original copy of the book?!
Boy does that bring back memories. I never missed a single show, once we got one of those new fangled TV boxes. :cornut: Jim
My co-workers bought me this license plate. Stands for MINI CRISIS since they thought I was going thru mid-life crisis in buying this car at my age (42 then) it's an '05 MCS. With 139k on the car it's definitely not a phase!
Worked with 3 other Johns in a department of one company I worked for. The one I worked closest with was John O, so being John Gossett, I became JohnGo almost immediately. It stuck with people outside the company, as well.
I had been mistertripps almost since Al invented the web. I decided this year to retire that moniker and come up with something more MINI related since that is mostly what I do online now -- so, HWY129 was born.
TATT, mainly because of my collection of tattoos. And Rat hails from my old 54 Ford, just a toy really. . . Tatt=tattoos Rat=ratrod TATTRAT
INIMINI... My wife couldn't decide the color and everytime she picked a MINI it was sold from underneath her via the Internet...so I told her to pick one...or INIMINI MINYMO:arf:
I go by GreyLens and the car is GreyLenz. From the Gray Lensman series by EE Smith...very early science fiction...father of most of the major concepts in space based fiction adventure...Star Wars, Star Trek, Azimov's Universe, etc. Do a search and you'll find a small but dedicated bunch of strange folks. opcorn:
Ahhhhh....... NOOOOooooo...... Actually, the "Silver Surfer", why do you ask? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05ObSdTD0d0]YouTube - Silver Surfer[/ame]
Mine was an adaption from the Navy as when I first started I was an Aviation Electronics Technician Chief. Slang was Tron Chief for the electrons that flow thru the wires. Now two ranks higher it still sticks. I call my car the Master Blaster as it represents the rank of Master Chief and the Blaster for the blast that it is to drive. If one is good 23 is better
Tron Chief, in 1982 I was living in Fresno working at the Porsche+Audi dealer, about the time the 944 came out. It was wildly popular with the Lt.s/pilots at Lemore and I think I sold 14 of them into the squad! They took a picture of all the cars set in a semi-circle in front of a few of the fighter planes, each pilot beside his car in full flight gear and helmet on the top of the car and it was all set to appear in the base paper when the base commander quashed it - it was his feeling that it didn't represent the base well to have all those expensive cars appearing in the paper like that. Seeing all those MINIs parked near the planes brought back the memory! Interesting to note that those 944's cost about the same as those MINIs do now!
I have been lucky enough to have two opportunities to do these photo shoots. The Club has been very supportive of the base and it has gone a long way in setting this up.
Hey! We ALL helped (well, the ones who pay taxes in the US anyway!) pay for those awesome machines... We should ALL be invited out for a pose and a pic! And a ride, yeah, that's the ticket! Too cool. Love the pics.
You were there:aureola: Almost looks like your car front right however did you get all the way from GA to CA picking up a front plate along the way.. Ok maybe it was there in spirit at least I agree with the paying of taxes portion however I also pay taxes which pay my wages  and have only gotten to go up for the "E" ticket ride once in almost 30 years. Make sure and vote for the Featured MINI of the month
I have a feeling the 1967 GT1 Corvette hot laps at Moroso in FL (over 180mph! HOLY cow!) and my Mini are the closest things to an "E" ticket I will be seeing anymore. I actually used "E" tickets back when I was a kid... One of those iconic things that is starting to fade from memories as we get older.
