Probably a case by case decision depending on the issue and the part supplied. I'd call to discuss.
I've often found that after figuring in shipping that parts prices at Best (incl tax) are comparable in cost for most OEM items.

I have read this thread and I think it's really lame to trash a local business on a web forum they are not on.
Grow a set and go in and talk to them about your issue but don't spread crap around the web like a little upset teenage girl.
Just my $.02 from the outside looking in.-

Yes the problems have been brought to their attention in person.
Once there is a result it will be posted.-

Slagging off any paying sponsors hurts Nathan. It's not a democracy, if Nathan doesn't like it he should just delete whatever we say.

FWIW
I had Best install PIAA lights I provided no questions asked.
Having front brake work done in a few weeks - I'll have them quote me on installing TSW springs and bump stops vs Discount Tire.-

Called BEST Motor Works today...
John answered the phone... I told him I would like to get some ATE Brake fluid SL.6 in the 1L can...
He said they only have it in bulk at the shop...
He offered to get it ordered for me and would have it for me to pick up this Friday in the afternoon before closing... I said "Great", let's go with 2L's... I didn't haggle over the price, but he offered up a discount on his own.... I wasn't expecting that... I was just happy with the quick service...

I'm glad to hear lots of positives.
My customer never was able to resolve his issue with best so I'll be checking it for him.
We all get that one or 2 problem cars that are a pain to get right I guess.-

I've used Best probably 4 times. Been pretty happy so far. My only complaint has been he's so busy it's not always easy to get in.
MAG has been saying they'll do my work - even install aftermarket parts. They have a special price for cars over 100k mi. I think $80/hr - about $20 less than Best. I have only taken either MINI there for warranty work. -
All the complaints are toward John.

I have nothing against Anson. I have issues with John. Which I've spoken privately about with some folks. But he lied straight to my face and I knew he was lying. He wanted big bucks out of me and constantly confuses r56 issues with r53.
Also, I just wanted to back Chris up. Not trying to start anything here. So please no attacks like the MAG post like 2 years ago. From what I've heard they typically have great service. Maybe I caught them at a bad time.
You guys can give me a call when you need something done. I won't do it. My dads mechanic at his shop loved working on my car and has the tools for just about everything. Yes! Even clear codes. -
I sure miss Mike and Eric down there. And I think they're at like $88/hr right?

Chris I've been sending folks to Best Motor Werks for quite a while & will continue to do so. Try as you might they will continue to be there doing a good job for MINI & BMW owners. People wait in line to get their cars in there. The fact their shop is so busy speaks volumes about the quality work they do.
Recent good report, a new Jarvik 7 thermostat housing went into Skooby along with a transmission fluid flush. Same great service I've always received.
MAG $900 for a transmission flush & fill. -

I have heard both sides and the negatives do seem to involve John. I personally have not had any work done there as I do most of it myself.
There are some people I have do some things I can't. They don't specialize on any one make. They just do good work. -

Thanks Nathan I was even more cornfused than normal by that. :biggrin5:

Will Best Motor Works install parts you supply or does everything have to be purchased through them?
-
Bought springs and rear sway bar on line. Best did the installation.

I think if you bring in aftermarket parts Best seems to be happy to install those. My experience.
Just my .02 on repair parts would you bring your own food to a restaurant & expect them to cook it for you at a reduced rate?
Best call them & ask. Much better than internet speculation. -

The 1st amendment does not apply to M\A, Nathan has been over that already.
