Wasn't the boot already unlocked after you pressed unlock twice? It should have unnecessary to also press the boot button.

It's a Hatchback not a boot because we live in the America not England. It's also a hood not a bonnet for the same reason.

You don't see people saying they are going to smoke a fag when they go to have a smoke because AMERICA!

    fag
    noun uk  /fæɡ/ us  /fæɡ/

    fag noun (CIGARETTE)

    a packet of fags

She's gone outside for a quick fag.

There were fag ends all over the floor.

    fag noun (GAY MAN)

US slang an offensive word for a gay man

I always put my dirty boots in the boot...

And because I don't wear a bonnet, I leave my bonnet unadorned...

And since I don't smoke, I don't allow fags in my MINI...

Well I read my Unofficial Mini Owners Manual which came with my US Mini, and it clearly states that the proper terms are "Boot" and "Bonnet". :p

I stand corrected then. Sorry about that.

The manual does say that's what it does, but unfortunately that's not how it works on my mini. I have that setting and the Hatch/Trunk/Boot still doesn't unlock!

Wow, I never even knew my "petrol" door locked. But, I've only owned the car about four years. I discovered the emergency key in the fob about six months ago.

Have you discovered the back seat has a 2 position latch to give you more room in the BOOT for groceries? You know.... For things like briskets or 25 pound turkeys or a side of beef....:D

That should definitely work. Along with other things you've told us, I'd say that there is something wrong with your car.

    Well...
I heard all the locks, unlock... But the boot wouldn't lift until I pressed the boot button on the key fob....

I have the "Convenience" option that senses when the key fob is near the boot and normally I push the switch near the license plate light to unlock the boot. I never really use the key fob to open any of the locks, just the convenience option...

Not until now. I wonder what else I don't know?

BTW, I do know about the unmarked compartment in the dash above the glove box. That would have been handy back in high school.

I don't know if they changed this but on BMW and my 02 if you lock the doors with the key remote there is no way to unlock it with out using the remote. If your inside the car the switch does not work and neither does the double pull. They do this so if you use the remote someone can't brake the window and reach in and open the car.

Dave you could use all the above in America but it would bring a whole different meaning!:yikes::lol::lol:

According to the owners manual I just recently opened, it does have that feature. I would call it the "Shut up (spouse/mother) if you ever want to get out of the car" feature.
