5mm is about perfect.
Oh yeah, I happen to have a set I bought from someone on on here...
I think it was these...

I've not used them. They have lovingly sat on a bookshelf and dusted every 2 weeks, on Friday.

Perhaps you can get away with it, as in your wheels won't fall off under normal use, but I would recommend longer wheel bolts with any spacers.
If you're a real cowboy, you can go 10 or 15mm spacers on our site for $88.13 for a set of two (with lug bolts). Linky coming soon: we're cleaning up our site this morning.-

The R113 wheels are 18x7 with 52 offset, same as my GP wheels.
In my opinion 5mm (about 1/4") is not enough if you are going through the hassle of adding spacers and longer bolts or studs mainly for looks. I would go with 12-15 mm spacers with studs and nuts.-

I use H&R 15mm spacers that are silver/aluminum color. I painted the sides black.
I use WMW 14 to 12mm stud conversion kit to convert from 14x1.25 to 12x1.5 threads. The studs are black.
I use black 12mmx1.5 tuner nuts.
The end of the stud lines up perfectly with the top of the nut (no stud protruding past the nut).-

Good. 5mm is not noticeable at all and thus pointless for looks.. I had run them up front to clear coilovers, and nothing out back....couldnt tell.

Yea. When the wife find out what I just spent on my SQ audio build, I may not be around anymore.

For 5 mm you will not need new lugs but anything thicker you will.

Is 5mm even noticeable?

Yeah it is a lot but I have much longer lugs so its all good.
I have seen 12 mm all the way around and it look very good as long as you buy the longer lugs. That's why I posted the link to TMS. (Turner Motor sports) -

I also went with a longer wheel stud all the way round for a better fit and peace of mind.

I do have longer lugs on all 4 corners.
That why I posted the link for TMS. They are only $2.50 each lug makes $40 a set for insurance that darn cheap. You can also mix lengths for different spacer front and rear. -
I ordered 5mm and bolts too.
