I found M14 to M12 conversion studs (track wheels had narrow acorn seats so the OEM bolts wouldn't seat) at a local "tuner" shop here for $35 (set of 16). Ran them on the street for 10 months. They got all 8 of my track days and 3 autocrosses plus about 18k road miles. There was some bolt stretch that first track day. Every session it was less and less until there was no movement for the last two sessions. After that I had no more bolt stretch. From what I understand, some bolt stretch is actually normal and expected. Worked just fine. When I went to pull them (yes, I am back to the OEM lug bolts) the locktite used had turned soft and I could pull them with just a wrench. I only needed to torch two of them. No signs of stress on the studs themselves though. Lesson 1: Price is not ALWAYS indicative of quality but it can be a good guideline. Lesson 2: Track heat transfer is hot enough that over time will break down Locktite Red threadlocker.
Fair enough, I can get on board with that. And those Wheel Mate ones I mentioned earlier might have been just fine if I had gone that route. That being said, their overall length was only 45mm. Having the studs I'm using at least enabled me to run spacers when I needed them, and also gave me an excuse to run some nice extended lug nuts :cornut:
