I have a Left Door Airbag Sensor fault. Just received my replacement part and ready to replace it but I can't find any info about it in my Haynes manual or online.

Has anyone replaced one of these? Any tips would be appreciated.

    Cheers,

    M

There are a couple of side impact sensors. One is physically in the door, up high below the side view mirror. The other is just behind the shoulder belt winder.

Figured Blimey would know. Probably knows more about convertible construction than most MINI techs.

I think that's a pretty safe bet. At least for R52s. I know R53s pretty well, too.

Thanks Blimey. Gives me a place to start!

Guess I better disconnect the battery before replacing the sensor. Just in case...

I'll let you know how it goes.

YES always disconnect the battery when "playing" with the airbag system.

If you remove the interior door panel and shine a light up in the front part of the door cavity, you should see the sensor up there.

Suggest having a beer after disconnecting the battery to allow the vehicle airbag capacitors to discharge completely before tearing into things. :beer
