So, for those who follow threads like this hoping to learn something ... and those who get more out of visual aids (like me).
This must be the wire you're talking about. (red arrows) In this pic you can see it coming out of the side of the wiring loom for the DME control module.
Assuming that's the wire in question, not sure whether it's hiding "under that thing" or "beside the other gizmo" but here's the grounding point. (green arrow)

Do Tell, what was the bad experience with the sock monkey. Just so I know waht to avoid as so far the monkey has been very good with the engine build
