$400.00 is a good price, I think they are a bit more than that at the dealer.
I think I was quoted $650.00+ at the dealer here in Colorado.
The best I found was a rebuild service, you send your pump out, they rebuild it, send it back.
RockAuto Parts Catalog
Mine was melted to a crisp, so I bought ZF pump from partsgeek or similar.

Forget rockauto, MINI businesses such as mine need all your business to keep us around. Cause rockauto isn't going to be able to answer your install quesions. -

If it's not dead...
you can open it up and clean all the crap out of the motor and get some more life out of it. Buy one from Way now or later, depending on your cash flow.

They are not cheap but when they go they need to be replaced. But they all make different noises. Some are louder than others, but being loud in not always bad. Personally I would save your money till it actually goes out. At that point you know for sure that is is bad and replace it with a fine unit from a M/A vendor of your choice. Also flush the system a bit and fill it with a quality fluid of your choice.
