    My dealer only used the sealant not a gasket

    I know the product development engineers at Victor Reinz. They have a very good product...I use their VR-90 material on my product line at work... I believe they have a different name for it for the automotive market. But it has very good properties for oil pan application. I've used Loctite Master Gasket in a very thin layer on both sides of the gasket. ... but it's very important for the pan and block to be completely clean and oil free..
