I'll recommend Blizzak's, but also recommend going with non-runflats. I'd consider a 205-50-17, a bit of additional sidewall is beneficial for winter tires. That size is available in the Blizzak WS80 too.
Be warned once you drive on real snow tires you'll be ruined & will never drive on anything else in the ice & snow.![]()

I just picked up a set of the General Tire Altimax Arctics, and last week up at my folks was impressed with them in the heavy wet snow they got the day b4 turkey day. Can't beat the price point either, considering. Although, I got the 205/55R16 on some OEM X-lites. Had to put spacers on the front axle, but that's b/c of the coilovers I'm running.

Blizzak's are great, as well as the Dunlop WinterSport 4D's.
I am currently running the General Altimax Arctic's, and they are great in snow, ice, but feel awkwardly squirrelly on the freeway. But for the price of around $430 you can't beat the performance.-

Just go the cheapest of the real snow tires. I do not see what the big deal is since you are not running time trials or the Dragon with them on you are just trying to get grip when you need it most, in the snow.
They call them Blizzack's for a reason....or am I just way over thinking this.

All 3 are good choices, it really depends on the local climate and your needs.
Brand new set of Blizzak LM-60 RFT are going on our Clubbie tomorrow morning. They are intended for "sport cars" and should do well in cold temps with occasional snow. I dislike runflats, however snow tires are already soft by nature and who wants to deal with a flat in the middle of winter? This is what we needed as the Clubbie is the family daily driver.
By comparison, the Blizzak WS is more suited for heavier snow climates at the expense of handling.
The Michelin Alpin is a performance cold-weather tire intended for only light snow duty.-

I might give you an update on the Sottozeros after the 1st of the year, looking at a set for my 07 after I dump the 04 Jeep, I will let you know if I like them.
If I really like them might get a set for the CM next year on another set of wheels.

Blizzaks are great.

So I would pick the LEAST aggressive Of the 3 to keep the MOST DRY traction, since 90% of the time, that is what the tire will be used!! Now if I lived out in the country....had an ultra steep driveway, etc, I might get an "all in" snowtire....much more fun in the snow, but more squishy and even a "greasy" feel on a dry, warmer day.... -
I tried Sottozero and I hate them; they flat out suck. I had Dunlop WinterSport 3D and 4D's before. I decided to give the Pirelli's a go and I will never get them again. Very disappointed, I was going to get them for my wife's car since I like to keep the tires uniform - after trying them hell no.

I did Goodyear Ultra Ice & Snow on my CMSAll4 last winter and plan to repeat again this year (even though I picked up a sidewall bubble on one after one month...bad pothole situation)
They are very reasonably priced on tirerack and this year come with a replacement warranty for no additional cost

Hakka's, the best.
Blizzak's very good.
Pirelli's not very good.
After I wear or time out on these Pirelli's I'll either go with another set of Hakka's or Blizzak's -

Well that is a poor report on the Pirellis, might have to rethink or just go Blizzack.

I have a set of General Altimax Arctic 185/65/R15 on justa wheels, great combo in snow and on ice. The price is right too.
They only stay on for snow & ice season, should last for years.
