I've tried the flat blades twice now. I currently have the Bosch Icons and they're just not good. Well, one is ok but is not as good as the traditional style. The one that hangs over by the passenger side is bad. They were great at first but now that they've got a few months on them the difference between these and the style Dave shared above is night and day. The flat ones just don't work for a curved windshield. The portion of the passenger wiper blade that hangs over the curve is no good. That top part of the wiper acts like it's hard plastic right now. The Icons work great on our F-150 though. I'll be switching back to the conventional/suspension style soon. AND at highway speeds, the flat blades don't hug onto the glass as well as the OE's.
Yea - in general had good luck with bosch… but never tried the ones @Dave.0 mentioned. May give those a shot on the Volvo.. or GP2 when they are needed.
Good article. I have had a part store argue with me that they gave me the right blade. Told them it didn’t fit the response was the computer said it is correct.
When I lived in sloppy winter conditions I used winter blades, they're a traditional blade wrapped in rubber so you don't have to deal with any ice build-up like a traditional blade.
Wow I've not had a blade stay off the glass like that. I can see how that causes an issue for you. No idea why yours does that & the one on our MINI does not.
PIAA used to make a curved blade which
I used on the passenger side, but they
stopped selling them several years ago
and just make the regular ones, which,
to be honest, still work better than any others
