    I change MAP and T-Map every other year. I run my car hard and use Meth.

    Have you noticed any amount of oil coating the pressure side tubing (between the turbo and the intake). Might be excessive oil coating the sensors... Could be PCV oil or oil from the turbo bearing....

    Interesting to say the least..... Not that you change the sensors that often, but that you can actually can get a woody and drive while on meth. That my friend is to be commended for sure. Cheers to you Brother Dave, you're the man! :beer

    Maybe i missed it, but what year is your car?? I have recently changed both the MAP and TMAP sensors in my 05 R53. I had an inconvenient, untimely issue going in to limp mode and the P1688 code, which points to these sensors as a potential for being at fault. If you could, please elaborate more as to why you changed it the first time and why you are looking at a second replacement.

    The car is an 2008 R56S, and it had the issue of lack of power especially in over boost (at 4000rpm) also Auto Start Stop wasn't functioning. Changed one of the two m.a.p. sensors and all was fine. Now i seem to be getting the same issue (the lack of boost power i mean) and again its an issue that comes and goes, one day i don't have boost and the other all is fine!

    I did forget to identify that one of the sensors was oil fouled on my car. Surely this was a contributor in my mind, if not the overall cause of the problem. I do have a catch can and will likely replace the PCV too. Thanks for the reminder MM!

    Thanx but unfortunately im no mechanic and i cannot understand where to look using the real oem diagram, any chance you could take a pic of the engine and point it there for me? :eek:

    Well, if you are unsure of your mechanic skills, and you accidentally "Gorp" it up trying to fix it your self, you could cause some real $$$ damage. Maybe the best thing for you would be to take it to a MINI specialist that knows their way around a
    MINI and have them take a look at your problem. That will also give you the opportunity of asking detailed questions and getting a better understanding... Not sure your location, but there are several good MINI mechanic sponsors on M/A.....

    Thanx but im not going to fix it myself, thats for sure. Im trying to get more opinions/experience or even solutions to the same problem other mini users have encountered. There aren't too many good mini specialists around, so giving them a hand can be vital, and after all this sharing thing amongst us mini lovers is a great thing! :wink:

    It also keeps the valves clean and free of carbon on non DI cars like the R53.:devil: no walnut blasting for me.:lol::lol::lol:

    It's also a nice boost in octane rating.

    Ok, so Methanol is a add on for making the car faster and it could be one reason did i get it right?
    But i don't use Meth, might i be looking for something else, or is it just that i run the car hard?
