When I was there back in 90 $1 usd got you 2 (was sold at the USSR post office?!)...complete with a bottle cap (one time use, and a LEAD neck wrapper to reseal it....and that was the GOOD STUFF...lol..was a fun to trip....still remember the toilet paper had visible WOOD SPLINTERS IN IT....talk about tuff folks...green tap water....things are different now...but the place that seemed to amaze (local)folks the most in talking to them was the McDonald's restroom...a complete roll of great tp on the wall...to put it in perspective...the "luxury" hotel I was in had a person living on every floor...you knocked on their door, and the maid gave you 2 SQUARES OF splintery state issued tp....:eek6:
Bet that McDonald's did more to cause the ending of the USSR than any politition did...let's face it...folks were amazed...and suddenly all the outlanshih statements and stories about the west seemed true....

Other warning we were issued by the hotel staff...do not stand on the hotel balcony (Moscow).. They tend to fall off, and do not use the TV unless you are 10+ feet away...many were exploring(Leningrad)....one other thing I recall...the elevators only went to ODD numbered floors....and it was more exciting than a 6 flags ride!!

There doesn't appear to be any stop sign at that intersection. It's hard to tell who's at fault!

 

Decades ago, I loaned my winter car to a Texan living in my street so that he could show his girlfriend around the region. Scared me ****less when we were on a 'familiarisation' drive by driving straight through a minor intersection just like that - lots of countries don't bother with road signs on minor junctions where the priorities are marked on the road, as in that Russian case.

And, yes, you just have to know which road has priority when it snows!

The truck was probably a used import from Japan, hence the right hand drive. Which suggests this vid is from the Russian Far East - they are nearer Japan than Moscow.

 

In the zoomed in index frame on the slow-mo video, you can see what appears to be a yield sign on street the truck was on (yes, they have those there, they just don't say "YIELD" on them).

Which would make sense, the car and the bike both thought they had right-of-way, apparently.

 

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a bunch of fearless pissed off Russians with good reflexes?

 

Why try and steal a car thats blocked and stuck in traffic?......And in front of hundreds of people...:crazy:

Not a dashcam, and not exclusively Russian. But it seems appropriate for this thread.
