You guys are pretty hard on the other site. I mean, I just read a compelling thread there on why it's hard to mod a Clubman to get Hardtop handling. And I learned that a magnet will help me learn whether or not the roof of my Hardtop is aluminum. I'm going back there now to find out if titanium nut implants will improve my reaction speed at the drag strip.

 

All of us here know the easiest way to check if the top is the uber rare aluminum one is to use a hammer. The aluminum will have a much deeper dent. Bunch of rookies over there me thinks.

 

Well...a least it was more interesting than another "my car's timing chain rattles", or " I ran out of oil" or even " I changed my SC oil, and now my car won't run right".....or better yet..."how to read a dipstick"....
My question is...
Why do folks that know so little about cars (in general) make a post, rather than reading a bit first...
I always though, that BEFORE you ask a question, one should try to answer it first with research....this internet thing, being just a collection of pipes and tubes, are great for stuff like that!! :nonod:
Some of the posts make me think of the 911 call I heard the other day from a persons who was "locked" in their car, with the electric door lock failed....the operator, while struggling not to laugh explained how to flip the handle lock and open the door.....oh yeah...we had one of those threads on NAM...
Poster locked the doors on a 2005+ gen1 with the key fob...does like a BMW, with a DOUBLE LOCK, disables the door handle (added antitheft feature on refresh cars, you cannot smash a window, then open the door)...then could not get out...sad thing is the dealer did not know this...not sure what's worse...the dealer not knowing, or the fact it took a day for me to point out this fact , that was also on the "things you didn't know about you mini" on page one...

 

What time do you mean? I think i have been banned 3 times.
One of them i think another vendor reported me for selling mounts.
Another time, lack of respect for other members.
Another time sending a pm to multiple mods with their home addresses and telling them they were *******s.
Another time because i posted motoron's picture of his speedo pinned.
Another time for having a duplicate account.
Thats all i can think of right now.

 

I am probably skating on thin ice on the NAM as well...No huge loss either way!

 

I think they oughta spend more time policing folks that sell worthless crud and/or sell stuff that turn out to be "other than was advertised!" There's too much of that there.

My big infraction?

100 points from Drew for this, and this is the reason I only use the marketplace anymore:

A payday loan site was spamming NAM with loan ads, like 10 threads worth, all of which have been deleted. I replied in one of them, tongue in cheek, here's how it went down:

I usually ignore Drew and his figurative short man's syndrome, but this one was so bad I got a bit wordy on him.

 

I got banned because I can't sew. Yeah I talked a good deal over there, about my turbo'd knitting needles, ported and polished sewing needles, M7 loom with copied canards and pirated towing hitch, but they found me out.

Yeah you got the boot for putting up a link to a company they didnt like.

 

Because of the sprintex thread, I think you'll have to go way overboard to get banned, you've ironically earned more leeway than the rest of us because of it, it kind of kills that thread if you're banned. It's one of the few threads left over there that is something other than 3M carbon fiber wrapping crap, what's the best oil, and how do you open the gas cap.

 

Well I've posted several items there and they haven't banned me. I even posted about NAM being sold to m/a and did not even gt a jolt or nothing. Several other attempts and nothing. They must know I/we wer messing with them.
I will gt it this year.

However, I'm not yet ready for the boot. I'm right in the middle of a dispute and a fresh nasty gram to the offender.

 

Won't be any bans this evening; the mods are away from their keyboards. Gray Raven is using his leftover faux carbon fiber 3M vinyl to wrap Drew's naughty bits tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

 

This whole thing is just.....enjoyable!!!

Well, I tried very nicely to make someone over there aware of the ECU issues with aftermarket coils a little while ago. That site and the people on it are impossible to reason with. Everything is viewed as an attack. I'm done over there......again.

 

It appears to be alive still, nice attempt, I think they are ignoring the trolls.

Dick and friends got reported in the MINI5280 area, but that activity got deflected since it is the club area. I passed the report on to the 5280 club prez, I think he handled it well considering the source.

Bottom line, it is all about the new user and the almighty advertising $$$. Sad!
