Give nice smack under the tweeter speaker, ala Fonzie.

Carol they speaketh the truth. A tech from Classic MINI told me that old school fix years ago. Thankfully I have not had to implement that technique. Maybe at the next get together we can all have a whack at the door.

I have a rare set of special edition Torx Hammers. -
If hitting the door does not work.
I once had a problem with the switch not making good contact. I had to push in on the toggle switch then move it up/down to get the window to work. -
My 03 does this when it's very hot outside. So far the smack technique has worked everytime.

Does this fix work for all auto repair issues? Just hit it with a hammer?

bump for an old thread but mine isnt working after i hit it and the window clicks when i hit the dash switch.

Just keep trying. Hit the door then toggle the switch. Has happened twice now and I get it going again.

Most likely there is poor contact between the window motor brushes and the copper bars on the commutator. Although cleaning the bars is easy, accessing the window motor is a pain in the neck. I can reach the window motor through the door speaker port to pull the magnet housing and armature, without disassembling the door internals as was done in the first section of this reconditioning guide.
I use 2000 grit wet/dry paper, and apply light pressure. The copper coating on the bars is thin, don't rub aggressively. Only the gates behind the brushes need to be pulled to release pressure on the springs. -

i got it to work...just needed a bigger hammer and to hit the switch at the same time

Mine is stuck down. the motor is trying to move it but nothing is happening. There is no "lack of connection" b/c it sounds like it is getting a solid go at it, but no movement. I tried to help it up thinking it might just be the motor dying, but it wouldn't even budge. To me it seems like it is just stuck. Any ideas?
