A few months ago I was contacted by the law office that took the lead on the class action. They wanted to advertise here, to the point of buying up all the slots and even the newsletter to advertise the settlement. I didn't think it was in the best interest of the site nor did I think the majority wanted to see that. As you can tell I declined.

Tasty Freeze is getting a little worried. They are hopeful people realize that their frozen treats will melt and it shouldn't be considered a defect. The sharks are starting to circle and they can smell blood.....

I don't sense resentment so much as... disdain, perhaps?
There seems to be a very aggressive, expensive mail campaign to enlist plaintiffs.
Who pays for that and who will benefit the most?
Edit to add:
I don't think there is disdain for those with problems with their wind-shields, but disdain for the lawyers and their techniques.-

This only covers:
(1) you currently own or lease, or previously owned or leased, one of the following “Class Vehiclesâ€:
a. MINI Hardtop (R50) (June 11, 2001—Nov. 28, 2006 production period);
b. MINI Convertible (R52) (March 6, 2004—July 31, 2008 production period); and
c. MINI Hardtop (R53) (July 18, 2001—Nov. 28, 2006 production period).
(2) a stress crack occurs/occurred either during the first 5 years/55,000 miles (whichever occurs first) from the date the vehicle was first sold or leased as new vehicle; and
(3) due to a stress crack, you paid to replace either (1) the Class Vehicle’s original (factory installed) windshield, or (2) a replacement original equipment manufacturer (“OEMâ€) windshield installed on a Class Vehicle by an authorized MINI dealer.-

I got it, and I plan to take advantage of it. The original windshield was a POS. The PPG glass I replaced it with has over 120K miles on it and it's holding up great.

Got it today and got rid of it today. Been through two oem's but not from stress cracks. The aftermarket one in there now has about 40,000 miles on it.

Yep. Got one, but didn't qualify because it is for stress cracks that happen within the first 5 years or 50k miles whichever is first.
However, you don't have to still have the Gen 1 car to be part of the class action so there should be a few out there that can get $$ for their out of pockets in the past.
Oh well. ..... -

DAMN! Thought I was in luck there for a second.
I had my windshield crack durring a really hard launch down an onramp. Still havent replaced it. -
Mine has been replaced twice. It was 100% covered by my insurance. No deductible. If it breaks again it will be replaced again. No damages to claim here.

Got it, hate to say my PGW (ex PPG) windshield is distorted at the edges. OE cracked from a rock. Second one installed REALLY BADLY by Safelite, broke all the clips on the A-pillar trim, broke three clips on the chrome beltline, leaked (air leak, bad), and when I asked them to check it they mysteriously couldn't answer my call. It was OK, because a small pebble barely breathed on it and it, too, cracked. Went with Ryan's Auto Glass (PRINCES there) and they did a super installation, new trim and all, but my PGW windshield is distorted around the edges. Not going to change the glass again unless it cracks, and staying away from Safelite.
Threw the lawsuit in the bin. -
Got one, still have my original windshield with one ding repair that I can't find. This ain't no charity, is that law firm out of California?
-
My OEM windscreen cracked too, but it was not MINI's issue. Earned my broken glass the honest way, following to close to a fellow MINI owner coming into Vegas for AMVIV in 07 a rock flew up and put a real nice small crack down low on the drivers side. A few track days over the next year expanded the crack.
Another rock hit right on the crack line finished it off.
