Directions for applying Penetrol. (from Dave.0)

    applying Penetrol…..

One can will last years and you will be able to do 10 or 20 cars easy. You don't have to mix it with anything just apply it right from the can with a sponge that you will not use again. Trash the sponge when you are done because when it dries it will be hard as a rock and will not wash out. (Oil Based)

For prepping your trim just clean your trim with lacquer thinner or acetone to remove any old silicone based dressings. Next wipe on a nice coat of Penetrol but don't let it run. You will see what I am talking about when you apply it.

Let it dry overnight and add another layer the next day. Your trim will look better than brand new for a year and it will resist dust and stuff and it will not wash or wear off.

    * If you get sloppy when applying it and get a little on your paint wipe it off ASAP before it dries or you will have to use lacquer thinner or acetone to remove it from your paint. It's not real big deal but you will need to re-wax that painted area since the lacquer thinner or acetone will strip off the wax.

If you ever need to remove it use lacquer thinner or acetone and wipe slowly and it will come off.

I have also taped up my bumper and sprayed it on all 3 of my front grills with an old Windex bottle and wiped a layer on my wiper arms. This stuff is awesome.

Let me know how it looks when you are done..

    Dave

Don't put penetrol on your windshield! You'd probably get a funhouse mirror effect

Oh heck now Dave O's secret sauce is out in the world. The world will be a better place with moar shiny plastic trim in it, but it was cooler place when one used a secret sauce. I bet that stuff will even shine up garage door rubber trim. :D

On my MINI I used Prima Nero, great stuff. On Skooby it had never had the plastic treated. Dave O's secret sauce brought the trim back.

What's a runner glove Scott & what's with the mask?

Dave.0 had some really nasty stuff he would suggest to treat the black plastic trim. Forgot the name of it.
