Not a big problem....
I completely removed mine when I was messing around installing my IE fixed camber plates. It had nothing to do with the IE install, I just wanted to see what was under there.

There is a clip that attaches to the bottom edge of the windshield glass. It acts as a receiver for the loose piece noted in your picture. You or the dealer may need to reattach this receiver clip which will then hold the loose piece in place.

It's attached to the bottom edge of the glass. Behind the battery along the top edge of the firewall very top edge of the picture. It's a black plastic receiver clip. Your loose trim snaps into it and is held tight to the glass.

 

Had the same thing happen on my R58, they fixed it in ten minutes. It

remains to be seen if they will have to do it again.

After 5 years and 2 windshield installs and a new battery install, multiple folks not me working on my 07 MINI, my cowl trim was similar to this issue, but bent/warped.

I had the dealer replace it, nice to see fresh cowl pieces each day, not gap, no warpage.
