I have 2 MINIs, same wheels and tires, both replaced at about the same time last summer.
2002 Cooper, 5-speed with the optional traction control
2003 Cooper CVT without traction control.
HUGE difference in drivability in the snow.. Much bigger than I ever expected. -

We're supposed to get snow on Thursday, and it looks like the storm is headed North-east from here......

I drive my MINI in the snow. Last year it did great, but this year I got new tires and now it sucks in the snow.

What tires you run in the snow is huge, as you have found out. Keep your eye out for a set of spare wheels to put some real snow tires on, then you will love your MINI in the snow.

I have a friend that has a set of wheels for sale. Waiting to see what I can get from tax returns if I've got enough money for some snow wheels and tires. The dealership also has an AWESOME deal on snow wheels and tires for $900 brand new on stock wheels.

I think snow is gone for the season. We had our first thunderstorm last night and the first twister of the season was spotted about 40 miles East. I'll take snow any day over one of those brutes.

I wish I had a garage for mine, but it is my daily driver so it sees whatever Mother Nature has to throw at us. It actually goes better in the snow than my Honda Accord did, but next winter I am putting some different tires.

I think Rixter should have come up to the Moscrop parking lot yesterday. The lot was mostly empty and the MINI is one of the very few front-wheel drive cars capable of doing donuts.

I had to go to the airport the night of our last big snow. 27 miles down, 27 miles back. 10+ inches. I still have a grin on my face. Driving around stalled cars. Passing SUVs.
Proper tires are key. My Dunlop Graspics are great. And DSC is a must! The only time it cut power is when I tried to give it too much. For me, when there is snow on the ground, a dirty MINI is a happy MINI.
Cheers!
