I'm slowly working my way down the checklist...so please bear with me. :aureola:

    Schultze needs new wipers.

OEM don't seem to last very long at all, so what brands are recommended?

    Thanks in advance!

I want to add a question that is related: Has anyone tried those new RainX wipers they have been advertising? If so, how are they working?

    I need replacements as well!

That's actually what prompted my mental reminder that I need replacements. RainX is offering $10 cashback by mail as part of their "Groundhog Day" special.

I've been using Bosch Ikon's on all of our cars for the past few years. To me they are the best wipers that I have ever used.

I have the Bosch Icon's on my old BMW and they're great. I use PIAA wipers on my MINI and they work really well, although they don't last much longer than a year.

    Thanks for the recommendation!

How easy/difficult is it to replace the wipers?

They should just snap off then back on again. They have pretty standard clips now.

How long do the Ikons last for you?

Garage-kept MINI or 24/7 exposure to elements?

Schultze is 24/7 exposure; very little snow, but lots of sun & rain.

X2 for the PIAA super silicones. I have them on both MINI's and just bought a replacement set a little after a year

I chuckled when I saw the 'revoltionary' RainX ones, the PIAA's have been doing that for some time now.

    Easy on, Easy off

I've got the PIAAs on my MINI and I'm not impressed with their longevity. The Bosch's from Wally World work just as good and are a good bit less costly.

So...even though I have a 2006, it should be very easy to replace the blades?

I don't even know how to remove the OEM blades...tips?

Raise arms, rotate wipers so rubber faces the sky. Pull the metal wiper down towards the windshield, wiper arm hook will pop out and press against the rubber. Depending on the type of wiper, there will be a little release tab in the crook of the wiper arm hook. Wiggle loose. Easy once you've done it the first time.

    Which PIAA model?

    Super Sporza Silicone
    Super Silicone
    Forza Hybrid Silcone
    Si-Tech Silicone

    Best place to buy 'em?

What size is the rear wiper?

(Sorry for so many questions...but thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!)

I'm very picky about having good wipers. With the Ikons I can go better than a year on a set. For me that is wonderful. With the oem wipers I replaced them every fall & spring.

As for the rear wiper I have not found an aftermarket one that works. I just buy an oem one from Outmotoing once a year.

    Les,

they seem to have a couple diff 'flavors'. I'm using the Super Silicones and they are lasting over a year. For what you pay your coming out a little ahead. (Super Silcones once a year vs 2 sets of cheaper ones)

I picked up a pair of Bosch wipers for 4Runner the other day. Naively I assumed they were made in Germany so I checked the packaging. One old box was still made in Germany, every other box on the shelf was from China. I wonder how the quality of new products goes. I believe the PIAA are made in Europe somewhere. My money goes to North American, then Eurpean (in that order) ;)

:Thumbsup:Me Too! My PIAA Super Silicones are into their 2nd year and still going strong. How ever there's(usually)no rain here from 1 JUNE-1 October. The only place I could find the rear R56 wiper was OEM(that was almost 2yrs ago) but it's still going strong also.
