Yes, but...........
While I agree it smells wonderfully and reminds me of fall - that's the problem. For us here in the middle where it gets cold, we know that soon we'll be scraping ice off our windshields and digging out the coats, hats, gloves, boots, snow shovels and other not-so-fun stuff for the coming season.
All in all, I'd rather be in San Diego, where winter might involve a hoodie..... -

Fall means offshore winds, hurricane season, head high barreling waves, and warm water temps. The perfect season for surf. :cornut:
I love fall, but I hate that it leads into winter. -

Winter used to involve these kinds of temps.
With 5 months of snow on the ground.

For the OP and smells, I was raised in western Kentucky and this time of year when they have cut tabacco and hung in the barns and slow cure with piles of smoldering sawdust is a smell that you will never forget, absolutely wonderful....

Heck... I'm just happy to see the high temps for the day to drop below 100! We had a sudden temp drop the other day and when I let the dogs outside for their first run of the morning they all ran outside, stopped and looked up at me with utter confusion on their faces. I think it was the first time for 2 months that they could go out and not have a blast of heat hit them in their faces. I have a hard time getting 'em to come in now... they just like to lay out in the sun now that it's a "cool" 96 degrees.

Cool again this evening. (Bad for the 'maters.)
Couldn't stand it any longer.
So, we had our own camp fire tonight.
I could do this all night.
Gonna be back in the upper 80's low 90's start'n again tomorrow.
Sigh..........
Camp fires. Wonderful things.

P.S. I'm not listening to all you complainers. I'm enjoying the moment. -
Yes, snow totals can be a bit staggering on that side of Cleveland.
I hope she does well there.

I love the smell around the camp grounds at the same time I know long term exposure is not good for my asthma

Yup, she loves it there. She's taking Equine Studies, made the Deans List. Last year she got first place at Nationals on the flats. She's doing much better than I every did in school.

Isn't it great when ones kids do better that than the parents did? Sure makes a dad proud.
Congrats fellow dad. -

I'll try to stay on track with the theme of this thread.......
Nope....... No one was burning their fireplace today, it was quite warm, but give it another month and it will be nice.
With fall just around the corner.....I buy my smoked meats locally from an old company that does a truly fantastic job (Thurns). I put on a huge pot of Navy beans, with carrots, onions, celery and a big smoked ham hock. That and fresh corn bread and a few squirts of hot sauce. MMMmmmmm, heaven.
No I don't ride myself, except for the MINI. My part in the equation are the horse bills. But it's a good trade, she's a great girl, studies hard, gets good grades, hangs around with good, like minded horse people, doesn't get into trouble, doesn't drink, doesn't do drugs, doesn't give her mom and I any problems. Wouldn't trade this "raising of a child" for anything. We've been very fortunate.
