Cant say i am a fan of those particular rims the dealer is willing to swap, but i do like a nice set of black rims...especially on a pepper white with black roof...

    Mmmmmmmm, thats good stuff

That's a little like trying to use a canoe to traverse a highway. Many reviews on TireRack for summers HP tires I was considering had complaints of "These sucked in the snow!"

Well, no kidding. You aren't supposed to drive with them in the snow!

As I research and am given time to ponder, I wonder if I should tell the dealer that I'd like to "trade down" (?) to non run-flats. I'd love to hear all your thoughts on this.

Not possible from the dealer except for 15" wheels (which don't fit an MCS). MINI supplies only runflats except for 15" on the non-S Cooper.

Unless you can convince the dealer to deliver the car with aftermarket tires (very unlikely).

Then I think what I'll do is save my pennies for a set of rims and summer tires.

I suppose I'd best have change set aside for the TPMS, too, eh? :-/

Finally got them on. Dealer put on a set of Conti Pro Contact SSRs. Seem like a nice tire, solid and none too loud in the time I've driven them. It's my understanding the Sales dept "ate" the cost.

Now, to save up for a nice 17" summer tire/wheel set. ;)

Good call. Those Contis are not all that bad in snow and rain.
