I thought bumf was an abbreviation for someone describing a place in the middle of nowhere, as in 'Bumf Egypt'

Bumf, is British idiom for toilet paper, it is probably the origin of the, uninteresting or unwanted printed matter definition. It is short for "Bum Fodder", or something your butt eats. My Dad is English, "bumf" is what my family has always called toilet paper. Dave
