They are everywhere.... We have so many customers which seem to live from one physical calamity to another.....going to a doctor for the slightest twinge of pain anywhere, until they find one that will treat them, if for nothing else to just get them to STFU and leave their office..

:cornut:As a Physician Assistant for over 30yrs, I can say that this is usually(but NOT always) correct. With me I listen hard, look hard(Phys Exam), and check the Past Medical History/Family History/Social History. Then if they are absolutely convinced that they have the condition in question or my 'little voice' says"you had better check this out".Then I get Xray/Lab etc. I've saved myself and the patient a lot of grief that way. In many cases(but NOT all), the patient that keeps coming back with new or outlandish physical complaints:
1.has undiagnosed mental/emotional/personality/abuse problems(also my job to treat)
2.is also involved in civil or criminal litigation
3.is applying for disability under questionable circumstances

Be Sure Always. These are Patient Lives that we're talking about. The first time that one just 'blows them off', that patient will be dead tomorrow.

Why isn't there a word to describe those who are worried about becoming a hypochondriac?

1.Untreated Generalized Anxiety with Depression can lead to this
2.Munchausen Syndrome sort of/ kind of fits. NOT Munchausen by Proxy as that is completely different.
