What was the issue with the RMW head?

Looks good. I'm not an expert, but the pic of the oil pan baffle looks like there may be a little oil leakage from the crank position sensor on the front right side of the block. You might want to check that o-ring.
Also, don't worry about not reading well, it happens to everyone:

Starting to look like a car...everything put back on and the shop took it for a spin...just waiting on the fuel filter and the front splitter to be put on and then it should be ready to roll
MFE put back on as well as the core

Was the failing water pump the reason for the new SC?
-
The units are separate
because the units are separate, you can replace one without the other. It's the drive gears for the water-pump power take off that go south on the SC. Leakage at the waterpump shaft seal is a completely different issue.

the SC was starting to make the infamous bearing death rattle...when it was cracked open it was low on fluid so it was a matter of time really....i won the new SC in an auction for like 250 bucks so it was a steal really...it came out of a i think late 05 with only 5k miles on it...as for the waterpump that was a matter of time before something failed and flooded the SC with coolant but in the end im glad they caught it when they did

Looks like they're doing a great job. Thanks for posting the pics.
