KC is in the World Series for the second year in a row, last year they lost in game 7..... This year they began the series with a 5 1/2 hour 14 inning marathon that wasn't over till after midnight, after being stopped twice for rain delays. They won that one 5-4 Tonight's game went a little better, with Cuerto pitching a 2 hit complete game and the Royal's bats coming to life mid game to finish 7-1 over he Mets. Next they go back to New York. I think this might be their year....the last time they won the series (in fact the last time they were IN the series) was 30 years ago - I think they're due.
I was having trouble believing it's been 30 years. Had to pull out my old Royals World Series jersey. Yup, 1985.
The Rangers and the Pirates are out. So, I'm rooting for the Mets. I have no attachment to NY or the Mets, but they are one of the Rodney Dangerfields of sports -- no respect. Sorry KC fans. Although the matchup can't happen, I would have enjoyed a Mets vs Cubs World Series. It would be kind of like a Browns vs Lions Super Bowl. I could watch and say, "Wow, this is really happening." CD :biggrin5:
With no dog in the fight, I'll have to root for KC over the NY Mess. Reasoning: KC is home to Gates Brothers BBQ sauce.
Ha! good a reason as any......here's a link to their online store, they'll send some out post haste if you need to scratch that itch! Gates Bar B.Q. - Online Store
Whoop-dee-doo! A summertime sport that used to end in late September, NOW about to conclude sometime in NOVEMBER! Golly...next they will be moving the AllStar game to Christmas Eve. Enough is enough...time to put away the bats, balls and gloves .
Hasn't the World Serious always been an October event? The only reason I'm watching it at all is that the Chefs (who are playing Detroit this weekend - in London!?!?!??) suck completely and of course, it's the home town boys in blue playing......
Sorry...I thought your Spell Check was not working. I profess NOT to follow the Chiefs/ CHEFS...me being a Bengals/BUNGLES fan. :ihih:
So you are not going to finish thread, Royals are the World Champs and Chiefs won 45-10 I would call that a pretty good day. And by the way, Kansas City is CLOSED ON TUESDAY to celebrate.
As a "Stillers" fan, I'm happy to see your "Bungles" reference, although I'm sure you are aware of the other deviations of the Bengals name from opposing fans. My Steelers did a great job of grabbing defeat from the grasp of victory Sunday. It seemed like both teams were trying not to win that game. I guess the Steelers tried harder. :frown2: CD
I wrote nice long story about the game and when I went to post it, it disappeared, so you all will just have to read about it in the papers I guess. Suffice to say, things are a little nutso here today - what with all the schools closed and the parade and all....but I guess after a 30 years gap, people are entitled to celebrate.....:blush2: At least they do it KC style, no rioting, no overturned burned out cars, no shootings or lootings........just a lot of happy peeps. Edit: The Chefs beat the Lions, does that really count?
