    :mad2:

Well, the husband and I leave for a trip to Long Island for a family reunion yesterday.......

HOURS later, we are still HOURS from our destination due to traffic and construction. We finally throw the white flag and bail. We take the next exit and head for home.

For some reason, our GPS takes us through downtown MANHATTAN to get out of Long Island and to get onto the Holland Tunnel (really????? there's no bypassing this????) We don't know NY, so we go this way.

Long, annoying, and agonizing story short, as we are .2 miles from the tunnel, waiting in hoards of traffic at a red light, we get rear-ended by a freakin' Ram 2500 truck!!!!! WTF?????? He hit us pretty hard, so we think he was on his cell phone, not paying attention (there's shocker), and decides to gun it (even though traffic's stopped in front of him??????).

    ARRGGGGGHHHHHHH! So annoying!
So the MINI is fine... we were in the husband's ride. But he's got a decent amount of damge to be fixed on the rear of his car (not to mention custom parts that need to be remade).

Ok, yes, we are both fine.

I hope everyone else's Saturday was better than others :mad5:

Whew, glad you are both ok, and Artemis too. Guess the East Coast didn't want to be left out of Carmageddon :smile5:
Sounds like you both need a massage and a soak in a hot tub today!

Hit and run? Did they get him? What a bummer :( we have been to Manhattan twice, used my wife's sister's Mercedes the last time and the GPS got us thru perfectly. Not sure where the Holland tunnel brings you? We came out of Boston so might be going a different way?

Glad you both are OK. You learned about the trap a GPS can be. I use one, but always check paper maps too.

Sorry for your carpy day. :frown2:

No no, sorry. He didn't hit and run. He gunned it into us LOL.
We exchanged info. We waiting for the police, but that doesn't happen in Manhattan (WTF?) The guy seems legit... had all info on him. We waited almost an hour for the police but they never showed :mad2:

Tons of pics were taken for the insurance co.

Thx for all the sympathy guys. We immediately jumped in the MINI and went out to dinner after we got home and put down a few to unwind :beer
So the evening turned out ok

Yeah- damn GPS's. We didn't think in a million years it would have put us right through downtown Manhattan!!!! WTF?

Knowing that everyone is okay...inquiring minds want to know what hubbies ride is. The mention of custom work was intriguing.

...either texting or talking, otherwise how could you not see something as sweet as his Redline:mad2: Sorry to hear about your bad day. Even custom sheetmetal can be fixed, thankful that both of you are alright.

    Thx

Yeah, it will get fixed. Funny, the custom valance on the rear will take less time to get in- it's the stock Saturn parts that have become elusive :sosp:

    Don't feel too bad!!!!

Shari and her sister went to NY and the cab they were in rear ended another cab.Terri's got a bruised arm and Shari was OK. The Cab driver would not give them their luggage until they paid the meter. They were on the way to the airport so they had to pay up and find another cab.

I used to truck through NY city and that was back in the early 70's before texting and cell phones along with people watching TV on their phones etc while thinking they can drive safely.

I don't think I will ever take my own car there (EVER):beer
