Jason Montague New MemberLifetime Supporter:cornut: When my Margi(08 R56 MCS/JCWm..........yeah turbo and not S.C. but keep reading please) was throwing that code regularly after rapid decceleration from high speed, the culpret was found to be the 'old silicone Alta intake hose' collapsing as it was not reenforced. Trashed the silicone Alta intake hose(which they don't sell any more) and got the Alta metal intake pipe. NO PROBLEMS SINCE. Is the intake hose no longer round but starting to collapse? Even with the S.C. R53 vs the Turbo R56, that 'Alta Intake' caught my eye. Hope this helps.

GeorgeCo Site SponsorMotoring Alliance Sponsor Supporting MemberHmmm. Interesting comments so far. On my previous R53 we put on the JCW 380cc injectors. All of the other mods are the same for this car.
Jason: The Alta tube that collapsed, was it this one or an earlier model? This is the one I have. I'll have to get in and take a look to see if it's still rigid.
I've got some MAF sensor spray cleaner coming in the mail. I'll try cleaning off the sensor, but hard to test if not on the track. :biggrin5:-

P0108 is the following:
Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input
Having seen this code myself more than once it has been my experience that the MAP sensor on the front of the engine is going bad. At least in my case that has been the solution twice now. The MINI Part # is 12-14-0-872-648.
Last time I had one go south was at MOTD in 2012. Hendrick MINI saved my butt by bringing a part up from the dealership. Much to their credit they allowed me to install the part and test to validate the issue was resolved before I paid for the part.-

That's a T-MAP code generated in the intake manifold. Could be a faulty sensor, tune related, or obstruction. It is not a lean condition.

What size "larger injectors" do you have and who did your custom tune?
If your injectors are not scaled correctly this can happen. I would contact your tuner because they should be able to make the needed adjustments to correct this problem.
You could also pull your Map and T-Map sensors and clean them because they could be faulty or have some oil build up on them if they have never been cleaned or replaced. -
Jason Montague New MemberLifetime Supporter:cornut: Yes Sir, that's the one. Of course Margi's was a slightly different shape being for the R56 Turbo.:cornut:

I've had no prob with Alta silicone intake hose for 100k miles. Zero.

+1, you may be able to clean it & make it last a little longer, but you're prob. just getting lucky here and getting an early warning that it's going bad.
Or (just a wild stab here)
Did you by any chance notice the boost level? A blockage in the CAT can sometimes give you an abnormally high boost level, esp. at WOT, and this could be causing the sensor to " sit up and take notice". -
GeorgeCo Site SponsorMotoring Alliance Sponsor Supporting MemberRoger. Using MAF sensor spray to clean the MAP sensor. Unless there's something better to use....
-
GeorgeCo Site SponsorMotoring Alliance Sponsor Supporting MemberHadn't thought of that. I did notice boost was fairly high at times. I put that down to the cool weather. The photo below shows a comparison of a couple of different laps from different sessions. On the left, boost was up above 15 lbs. I threw a code in this session. On the right, boost was only up to 13 or so. No code. Related or coinkydink?

This happened to me also, sensor going bad. Replaced it, resolved problem a couple years ago. I run a 17% pulley.
