Unfortunately I have to vote for the Mustang.

One of my best friends is a die hard Mazda/rotary guy, and bought an RX8. He traded it in after having it a month because it was a slow turd with no soul... He replaced it with a Mazdaspeed 6, that now has over 400 HP!

RX8 by default. There are only two production year mustangs I would pick over any car and this isn't one of them.

Nothing like the rumble of a V-8. Mustang!

Mustang.. Kinda lets you know what the buying public think of a car when a '97 Mustang is in the same price range of an '09 Mazda

Performance be damned... I'd take the RX-8 on looks alone. Never was a big fan of that style Rustang.

I have always HATED that body of Mustang... It looks worse than an F-56, they feel and handle like crap, and started to fall apart in the showroom....

But, the RX8 was such a let down, it doesn't have enough good about it to vote for.

Mustang, even though I like the RX8, when they are full race prepped they do OK. :)

I'll take the skateboard in the back of the Cobra over either of the two. If I HAD to choose one though, it would be the Mustang. The Mustang, although much older, is still more rare than the RX-8, and has a ton of potential as a project drag car whereas the RX-8...well, it's no better than Wayans' brothers "Your Mama" jokes sober.

You can replace the rotary with a small block 350 and eat the Mustangs lunch all day long if your into 1/2 mile racing.

As for me I am a big fan of turning while going fast, because straight speed is boring.
